Team USA responds to New Zealand’s haka with blank stares (video)

Sep 2, 2014, 8:30 PM EDT

The World Cup, among other things, provides players a chance to experience new cultures. One of the coolest traditions among World Cup teams – the haka.

Judging by the looks on their faces, Derrick Rose, James Harden and Kenneth Faried didn’t know what to make of the dance.

Safe to say, the Americans eventually figured out how to handle New Zealand.

did you catch faried’s eyebrow raise? so subtle yet so funny!

      • dirtybird28 - Sep 2, 2014 at 10:05 PM

Lmao that threw me over the edge. They almost looked like they thought they’d be in a fist fight

U.S. players in many games during player introductions go thru dances too.

some throw chalk into the air,

    bash brother A’s

    signing the football

running onto the star at dallas stadium

calling the secretary of defense from the sidelines because they were “killing” them

    and on and on…

sports is great, too bad they can’t have nearly the fun anymore…

That was hilarious. They looked like they were in a dance movie. You just got served. New movie. You Got Served: FIBA Basketball.

  8. sellahh - Sep 2, 2014 at 10:21 PM

    DRose don’t dance.

  9. sonnysuave - Sep 2, 2014 at 10:29 PM

It’s like the scene out of Remember the Titans… “everywhere we go… ppl wanna know… who we are… so we tell them… we are the Titans… the mighty mighty Titans!… ooh ahh, we feel… ooh ahh, so good!”. Too bad New Zealand’s chant didn’t have the same intimidation factor! USA just applauded them & clapped up their diversity & culture… good sportsmanship! But RTT is definitely one of the all-time best sports movies!

I love when the All Blacks do the Haka dance… they are one of the most dominant rugby teams in the world.. very intimidating.

    • oslo23 - Sep 3, 2014 at 5:44 AM

Did you really just compare the Haka to a football chant in a movie….ignorance

  10. nflcrimerankingscom - Sep 3, 2014 at 12:02 AM

It’s better when the rugby players do it.

Actually, it was the kiwis who were left “dumbfounded” once the game started.

  14. stableinnh - Sep 3, 2014 at 4:48 PM

I’m going to do this to my co workers before the staff meeting tomorrow……. I bet they remember every word I say!

  15. proceednet - Sep 3, 2014 at 5:50 PM

Shamefully terrorizing our guys into kicking their azzes!

  16. kosmokenny - Sep 3, 2014 at 6:55 PM

The first time I saw the Haka, I was at a bar in Afghanistan and a bunch of mercenaries from New Zealand started it. Being wholly unfamiliar with it, I did what any drunk white boy from middle America would do, and started doing the robot back at them. I was only about 5 seconds into my dance routine when someone dragged me out of there and told me to leave before the Kiwis finished their dance and killed me.
