Paul George’s injury has left the Pacers scrambling.
They might no longer be good enough to make the playoffs, even in the Eastern Conference. But Roy Hibbert, David West and George Hill are solid – and the East was that bad last season. The Pacers should round out their roster and give themselves a chance to make the postseason if everything comes together.
So, Indiana has found another wing who can help with George out – Chris Singleton.
David Pick of Eurobasket.com:
The Pacers have a disabled-player exception from George’s injury, but I doubt they used that here. Singleton is a minimum-salary-caliber player.
In three seasons with the Wizards – they didn’t pick of the fourth-year option of the former No. 18 pick – Singleton has played decent defense, though fouled too much. He’s a poor shooter who doesn’t do much with the ball in his hands.
Singleton gives the Pacers 16 players, though Donald Sloan’s contract is fully unguaranteed until Aug. 15. At this point, I expect Indiana to waive him.
C.J. Watson will back up Hill, and Rodney Stuckey can play third point guard. At this point, wing depth – which Singleton provides – was more important than having Sloan as the designated No. 3 point guard.
