Kyrie Irving with crossover, step-back jumper for Team USA (VIDEO)

Aug 21, 2014, 11:30 AM EDT

USA Basketball called this “killer crossover” but to me this is Kyrie Irving every game. Irving was one of the top shooters in the NBA off the dribble last season and he has plenty of moves to create space for himself. This is a very good move, it’s just something he can do nightly. It’s effortless.

Irving, as well as DeMar DeRozan and Andre Drummond looked good in the USA’s 43-point thrashing of the Dominican Republic at Madison Square Garden. The problem for Coach Mike Krzyzewski and crew is what can you really take away from this game? This was not a test for the USA, not the chance to see how players perform under pressure. how players perform in practice would be a better judge of that than this game.

Which is part of the reason there will be no cuts until after Friday night’s game against Puerto Rico.

It’s amazing to consider a team in which Kyrie is the third scoring option…

3rd scoring option, how about 5, 6, or even 7. He still play raw to me, he ain’t there yet John Wall would’ve been better suited for the team but Irving and coach K have a pretty good relationship.

I think balsagna was referring to the Cavs: 1) LeBron 2) Kevin Love 3) Kyrie Irving.

John Wall has an average at best jump shot… He got cut for the same reasons Rondo was cut years ago when he was one of the best…

Better than Wade. Wise choice, LeBron.

This is a big year for Kyrie, starting this summer. Everything’s in place for him to succeed, but he needs to take advantage of the situation. I wish I could’ve seen this game to see if he’s been working on his D and off-the-ball movement.
