Isaiah Thomas has wrist surgery, expected to be ready for training camp

This was unexpected, but it doesn’t sound too serious.

Phoenix Suns’ point guard Isaiah Thomas has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist, the team has announced. The team says it was successful and he is expected to be ready for training camp in a little over a month.

The Suns just acquired Thomas in a sign-and-trade this summer with the Sacramento Kings, giving them a stacked backcourt with Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe (the latter of whom is still balling his restricted free agent contract situation with the Suns).

The Suns got Thomas at a good price at $7 million a year (four years, $28 million). He is small but makes up for it by being lightning quick. He averaged 20 points a game with a very efficient .574 true shooting percentage because not only can he get to the rim he finishes pretty well and has a jumper. He’s not helping on defense much, to be fair.

This season the Suns are going to go small and they will be fun to watch. More fun with Thomas in the lineup.
