Tweet of the day: Paul Pierce ain’t ‘fraid of no ghost

Aug 13, 2014, 5:42 PM EDT

Paul Pierce tweeted about coming back for one more run at it in the NBA.

That run is going to be a little different, Pierce jumped from Brooklyn to Washington this summer, joining a Wizards team that could/should be a top four team in the East.At the end of last season, with a healthy Nene, the Wizards were the third best team in the East, John Wall and Bradley Beal had taken big steps forward, and this was a pretty good team.

Pierce will start at the three but split time pretty evenly with Otto Porter (who looked improved and ready for the extra minutes at Summer League). If everyone can stay healthy this is a Wizards team with a nice mix of youth and experience that would do a little damage starting in late April.

It is going to be so weird to see Paul Pierce in a Wizards jersey.

Agreed. I don’t like it. Being a Celtics fan from NY, I liked him and KG in Brooklyn.

But I don’t know about this.

And I wonder, with the West continually getting better, and the Wizards on the rise in a weak Eastern Conference…if they go further than the Thunder the next two years…will Durant consider “going home?”

That would be intriguing for sure.

That’s him saying its harder to get up in the morning to train. I can’t see him being too effective this year in that offense.

You can stick Pierce in any offense and he will score his 20 and get his teammates the ball in the right spots at just the right moment.

you could have done that in the past, but not now…

        Father Time catches everyone.

he hasn’t averaged 20 points a game for the past 5 consecutive seasons.

In fact, he only scored 20 points 11 times last year.

He was just resting for the playoffs

Sometimes you forget how good guys were. Before the Big 3 area in Boston Pierce averaged 25-7-4 over seven seasons. He was the truth.
