Carmelo Anthony looks slimmed down, too

Aug 11, 2014, 4:14 PM EDT

His tag: Gran sesión de entrenamiento de hoy #thisisme7o

It became big news when some Instagram photos of LeBron James came out this summer and showed that his paleo diet had dropped about 10-15 pounds off his frame. No doubt his knees appreciate that.

But check out Carmelo Anthony, he of the new $124 million contract with the Knicks.

That was from his Instagram account on Monday and he looks slimmed down also. Hard to say how much, and how much of that might be just that photo (angle, lighting, etc) but he looks thinner.

Compare that to this picture from last season and decide for yourself.

Is it just me or has this entire offseason been: LeBron does something, Melo does the same thing a few days later when no one cares?

    • sportsfan18 - Aug 11, 2014 at 4:27 PM

      MeWho?

    • clevelandrox - Aug 11, 2014 at 5:14 PM

      lol, yep…

    • pharohislife - Aug 11, 2014 at 9:19 PM

To me he’ll always be FatMelo cause he’s no Fab Melo.

      • 00maltliquor - Aug 12, 2014 at 8:29 AM

        **crickets**

      • pharohislife - Aug 12, 2014 at 4:16 PM

Sorry, even I thumbed it down.

sports coverage has officially reached a ridiculous level

    • themars211 - Aug 11, 2014 at 4:29 PM

But you continue to click and read?

  3. ProBasketballPundit - Aug 11, 2014 at 4:29 PM

So obviously Instagram has a new Carnival fun house mirror filter…

  4. 88heatnation - Aug 11, 2014 at 4:30 PM

Melo needs to shave that Bill Walton.

  5. kenyante - Aug 11, 2014 at 4:32 PM

Kevin Durant is cutting carbs too.

    • money2long - Aug 11, 2014 at 9:26 PM

Lebron did it so his flops would look believable.

      • sportsfan18 - Aug 11, 2014 at 10:00 PM

        a rare time I’m with you Money…

Fans of LBJ down vote you…

but, I say to them USE YOUR OWN EYES

just Google him and you may watch lots of Youtube vids of Lebron flopping…

some he is NOT even touched and yet he acts as if he’s been mauled…

again, just watch with your own eyes vs. reading what we say.

He FLOPS badly and thanks to video and internet, it’s there for us to actually SEE it instead of hearing someone say “No he doesn’t!”

        uh, YES he does…

    • willkill4caffeine - Aug 12, 2014 at 9:52 AM

Shoot, Durant will disappear if he cuts carbs. Standing sideways you won’t be able to see him

  6. csbanter - Aug 11, 2014 at 4:45 PM

Melo losing weight great whatever he just needs to focus on learning the triangle offense.

    • RavenzGunnerz - Aug 11, 2014 at 4:46 PM

Can’t lie, that was a good one LOL

  7. eugenesaxe1 - Aug 11, 2014 at 5:11 PM

He’s been doing 20/day while carrying his ego.

  8. rodge1 - Aug 11, 2014 at 6:01 PM

Players have stopped using hgh with fear of a surprise test.

    • thekiller678 - Aug 11, 2014 at 9:58 PM

Could be wrong, but I thought HGH helps you recover from injuries. Didn’t think it made you huge.

      • jgillmeister - Aug 12, 2014 at 10:16 AM

You’re wrong – Muscle growth is one of the primary HGH benefits

  9. hartdaddy - Aug 11, 2014 at 6:28 PM

So he just stopped wearing the flak-jacket?

  10. TechSHIZZLE.com - Aug 11, 2014 at 6:59 PM

It ain’t ’cause he’s had to resort to eating Top Ramen 3 times a day.

    • fanofthegame79 - Aug 11, 2014 at 7:04 PM

Nope, all those carbs and sodium would bloat him up.

  11. cantonbound13 - Aug 11, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Imagine that, players working out in the offseason so that they are in shape for the season?

  12. elcapitanfiscal - Aug 11, 2014 at 11:43 PM

He still looks fat to me.

    • basketballbro - Aug 12, 2014 at 12:01 AM

The ideal weight for an average 6’8″ 30 year old male is roughly 207 pounds.. Now factor in the fact that this man is built to perform at a ridiculously high level for a majority of his time and there is no way ‘Melo could be considered “fat”. He may look fat to you, but he definitely could out run/lift/perform every last person who has ever visited this blog.

      • willkill4caffeine - Aug 12, 2014 at 9:54 AM

        I accept this challenge

      • elcapitanfiscal - Aug 12, 2014 at 6:13 PM

I meant hes fat by nba standards. Of course hes in better shape than you.

  13. nokoolaidcowboy - Aug 12, 2014 at 6:06 AM

Since we’re on the subject, I saw Sir Charles the other day and he looked faaaaaat!

    No more Slim Fast, eh?

  14. jgillmeister - Aug 12, 2014 at 10:19 AM

LBJ and Melo are raising my suspicions. Methinks the league told them that increased testing would be coming and that they better get off the juice now.

  15. arrondior - Aug 12, 2014 at 10:59 AM

I’m really excited about the upcoming season for the Eastern Conference. So many question marks, and I’m actually really excited to see Carmelo working so hard. He’s a fantastic player and I believe that he is going to ball out this season. The Knicks may be a bubble team for the play-offs this year but they will be fun to watch none-the-less.
