Warriors big man Marreese Speights was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, which carries with it a second-degree misdemeanor charge.

The unfortunate details, from Diamond Leung of the Bay Area News Group:

Speights was arrested at 3:31 a.m. ET and later submitted to two breathalyzer tests showing breath alcohol contents of .103 and .106, according to the incident log. Florida’s legal limit is .08.

Speights became involved in a traffic stop after an officer pulled him over due to a failure to yield right of way while pulling out of a driveway in a black 2012 Bentley, according to the incident log. The officer detected indicators of impairment, and Speights after agreeing to roadside field sobriety exercises was arrested and transported to a breath testing facility, according to the incident log.

Speights, who according to the incident report was cooperative, was booked at the Hillsborough County Orient Road Jail and later released on $500 bond at 11:47 a.m. ET, according to Tampa Police.

While this doesn’t appear to be as severe an offense as the one committed by the Suns’ P.J. Tucker that got him sentenced to jail time, it’s relatively terrible nonetheless.

Speights averaged 6.4 points and 3.7 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per game for the Warriors last season.

Take it 25 years back and .106 is the equivalent of being sober as a judge

You’re a millionaire. If you’ve had more than two drinks the entire freaking night, call a damn cab. Use Uber. Phone a friend.

    Don’t drive, you flippin’ moron.

No one ever called Speights smart.

Let’s face it, he was a criminal charge away from ending in the slammer versus the NBA. Typical hood rat that was gifted with size and strength.

You have no idea what his story is or what he has potentially been through.

How does a roll player afford a Bentley??

  7. jerdogthompson - Aug 5, 2014 at 6:57 PM

    No need for me to elaborate, I will however leave you with the definition of hood rat courtesy of Urban Dictionary;

A girl who sleeps with various men in the neighborhood. Usually noticeable via her slacking standards of personal care.

So in short I was calling Speights a little bizatch. How’s that for elaboration?

So, you don’t know what it means if, you had to look it up in the Urban Dictionary. That’s what I thought tho!!

I object to characterizing a DUI as “unfortunate.” A DUI has nothing to do with bad fortune. A DUI is a choice to drive while intoxicated, which is better described as “monumentally stupid.” “Unfortunate” would be getting killed by a drunk driver.

It’s time to bring back hangings
