The Spurs’ 2013-14 NBA championship has already been overshadowed.

Not by LeBron James signing with the Cavaliers, possibly forcing San Antonio to open the season in Cleveland and delay its banner ceremony.

No, the Spurs’ players and coaches have been one-upped from within their own organization.

The Spurs Coyote was voted Mascot of the Year by his fellow mascots.

That link contains Coyote’s best highlights, but a couple from the season standout. There was his backward three-quarter-court shot:

And of course, there’s his Robert Horry-esque clutch move to clinch the award. The eyes trick:

No joke this coyote deserves the recognition! If you’ve ever new to a spurs game you know he is a star!

after watching every game of the finals, i can say in all honesty, I’ve never even seen that weak mascot before

The Spurs Coyote flopped worse than D Wade does.

      well, he’s SUPPOSED to flop…

      What’s D Wade’s excuse?

The 76ers need to bring back Hip Hop. He was up there with NBA mascots, especially since he (Bill who was inside the costume) was a gymnastics alum from Temple and could do all the high-flying dunks etc. SO WEAK when they axed him and did that dumb “vote for the next mascot” that never panned out into anything.

Best ever was the Phoenix Suns Gorilla from back in the day.

One of the better mascots in the league today. He even has a “no trade” clause, like Kobe does.

Rocky got robbed again. By far the best mascot in all of sports.

Phillie Fanatic is the best mascot in all of sports

I believe the inside of the costume reeks of B.O., stale booze, and broken dreams……but enjoy your reward mascot man.

Man, are the 2013-2014 Spurs HOT! They got the Title, Coach and Executive of the year, re-signed Tony Parker, Pop, and now this, Mascot of the year!!! Incredible, we gotta enjoy it while we got it…
