Derrick Rose making vintage Derrick Rose plays at USA Basketball camp (VIDEOS)

Jul 28, 2014, 4:33 PM EDT

That was vintage Derrick Rose — absorbing the contact, still getting the and-1 bucket, and hitting the ground hard.

Rose and how he looks is one of the big questions for this Team USA camp and a couple of highlights don’t paint a full picture, but Derrick Rose seems to be moving and playing like the Derrick Rose of old. Like in this play.

If that Derrick Rose is back, watch out for the Bulls next season.

Good for D.Rose. I hope he comes back strong. Chicago needs him – not just the team, but the city.

    • 1friendofthepeople - Jul 28, 2014 at 10:40 PM

D Rose’s patented two handed throw downs, its a thing of beauty.

  2. loubearkane - Jul 28, 2014 at 4:40 PM

LOLZ at the posters saying you lost a step , looks fine to me. 2 years of rest and motivation the rest of the league shall see!!!!!!!!!!

    • asimonetti88 - Jul 28, 2014 at 5:53 PM

Rose is so much fun to watch

  3. chicago240 - Jul 28, 2014 at 4:45 PM

The city and team DO need him. And I hope he is in a little more control this year. In the few games he played before being re-injured, for all the prep time he had, his drives and shots were 90% out of control. Was trying too hard and defenders were just closing the middle on him and he was throwing up one crazy shot after another. His numbers reflected that. And mind you, many times he’d make the right move, but then he’d bonk an easy one off the rim. Hopefully this summer’s competition brings him back a little more settled. He’s a monster to watch if he can get his game back.

  5. bronx77 - Jul 28, 2014 at 4:55 PM

  6. fordmandalay - Jul 28, 2014 at 5:01 PM

I’m no Bulls fan, but as basketball fans we should all hope Rose comes back fully. Always appreciate watching great players play, without them we’d be stuck watching scrubs.

  7. profantasyplyr - Jul 28, 2014 at 5:03 PM

    Awkward fall..

  8. unfrozencavemanlawyer2 - Jul 28, 2014 at 5:06 PM

The Bulls desperately need Rose. The city would be okay with or without him. Chicago is a Bears town, always has been.

    • ProBasketballPundit - Jul 28, 2014 at 6:24 PM

I would argue that Chicago is a Cubs town. I lived there and that’s all I remember about it. Of course I lived there before MJ had won multiple championships.

  9. chitownmatt - Jul 28, 2014 at 5:30 PM

Was Antonio Davis guarding him or just watchin’ the show???

    • chicagosports2014 - Jul 28, 2014 at 5:43 PM

Naw, they were practicing offense no defense was involved. Looks like pick-and-roll or 3 man weave of some sort.

  10. ravenswhat - Jul 28, 2014 at 5:58 PM

He still owes Lebron that MVP he stole.

    • loubearkane - Jul 28, 2014 at 6:23 PM

      RIGHT!!!!! smh

    • sportsfan18 - Jul 28, 2014 at 6:26 PM

      players don’t steal the vote.

if you’re mad it went to Rose, blame the writers.

      players play and voters vote

      Rose owes nothing to LBJ

    • chicitybulls - Jul 28, 2014 at 6:29 PM

And Ray owes the league more than a 2 game suspension.

  11. 1harrypairatesties - Jul 28, 2014 at 6:17 PM

Save yourself for Chicago you idiot. You can’t play in the playoffs but you “jump” at the chance to play for team USA when everybody & their mother has declined. If this guy gets injured Chicago is gonna be Pissed!

    • chicagosports2014 - Jul 28, 2014 at 6:37 PM
