Spurs’ Matt Bonner brings the championship trophy home to New Hampshire (VIDEO)

Jul 25, 2014, 12:01 AM EST

Matt Bonner isn’t exactly the first name that comes to mind when thinking of the Spurs and their championship success. But when you think about it, his hard work and selfless sacrifice for the betterment of the team exemplifies San Antonio’s message as well as anyone on the roster.

Bonner is part of a group of players taking the Larry O’Brien championship trophy on tour this summer — Manu Ginobili is taking it to Argentina, and Patty Mills and Aron Baynes are bringing it to Australia.

The video clip above shows highlights of Bonner’s visit back to his home town of Concord, New Hampshire, and it’s every bit as low-key as you might expect.

    I respekit!

And if Aaron Baynes of all people is allowed to take it over seas, then you know damn well Matt “Red Rocket” Bonner gets first dibs to parade around with it.

One funny thing is that after the finals this year, newspapers in four different countries ran headlines claiming that their player or players won the title for the Spurs – Italy, France, Argentina and Australia.

They’d be a quarter right! It was a total group effort. Lol!

Funny part is I have met Matt because I am from NH and if he walked in a gym, you wouldn’t know he was an nba played beside his hight. He is low key and just an all around cool guy.
I saw a couple friends in that video, very cool.

Bonner seems like he has a good sense of humor. He makes some pretty funny videos. His Andy Kaufman impression is awesome

Yeah he is. When I met him my junior year in highschool, (4 years ago) he came to my AAU practice to play. When he drove up to the parking lot, he got out of what looked like a honda civic. We were amazed he could even fit
