Report: Ray Allen to get MRI on knees then decide future plans

As are a number of other NBA stars trying to boost their brand and shoe sales spreading the love of basketball around the globe, Ray Allen has been in China the past week on a “vacation.” A vacation where he goes on television shows and does news interviews, so just like all your vacations. Maybe junket is a better word for what Ray Allen has been doing.

Out of his trip comes this note, via Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

LeBron James has reached out to Ray Allen trying to recruit him to Cleveland, as he has already done with Mike Miller. Miller is calling Allen as well. Allen has been more hesitant and what he is thinking depends on which sources you’re talking to — maybe he wants to go once more unto the breech with LeBron if he thinks he can win a title, or maybe Allen doesn’t want to go to Cleveland to play on a young team that likely still can’t beat the top teams in the West. (With that, how much does a potential Kevin Love trade factor into Allen’s decision?)

Allen is still in amazing condition, is still the consummate professional and can still knock down the corner three. However his fading athleticism has made doing pretty much anything other than shooting difficult. Such as defending.

Expect Allen to do one of three things: Agree to terms in Cleveland, find a deal with a contender in a warm weather city, or retire.

How ironic! most of yall talk about how LeBron left miami because the supporting cast is old but yet he’s recruiting most of them! It’s not like there’s wasn’t or no other free agents out there! No matter what happens Cleaveland, miami showed him how to be champion first and now he’s trying to show you all! Miami leftovers!

James jones, Mike miller and once Ray Allen knows he’s fine… A lot less need for both wiggins and waiters…

Way to go out on a limb.

Just roll Ray out to the corner in a wheelchair and he’ll still knock down the 3. Money!

I love Ray but he’s becoming the definition of “chasing a ring”.

I believe Ray will retire. I think if it was a shoe on for Cleveland like everyone thinks it’s would’ve happened already, before Lebrons first departure he originally reached out to Ray Allen about coming to Cleveland and Ray said no. But I could be wrong. Either way. Man is a legend to the game a legend to celtics fans and heat fans with arguably the biggest shot in heat history and Allen’s career.

I think the question for Allen comes down to minutes. In Cleveland with Waiters as the starting 2 with Miller backing him up and James Jones who is another Coach Paulmaverickjames favorite, how many minutes can they realistically give him?

He would be better off signing in Chicago or Indiana. But the force is strong with Coach Paulmaverickjames.

Yeah, if the Cavs give up Waiters as part of a Kevin Love trade to recruit a third team, then the playing time is clearly available for Allen.

However, if they keep Waiters and trade for Love, there’s not enough minutes at the shooting guard and small forward position for Waiters, James, Miller, Jones, and Allen. James also won’t be spending much time at power forward if they get Love and keep Thompson, so somebody is going to be riding the bench on a nightly basis wearing a suit if Allen joins.

And if the Cavs keep both Wiggins and Waiters instead of trading for Love, there’s even LESS playing time available at shooting guard.

Ray’s getting there. Just taking longer because of age.

    Welcome back to Milwaukee Ray
