Kobe Bryant shows off home run swing at Richard Sherman’s celebrity softball game

Jul 21, 2014, 4:58 PM EDT

You should never doubt what Kobe Bryant can do… well, I doubt he can lift these Lakers to the playoffs next season. But he’s proven me wrong before.

Don’t doubt his athleticism. Bryant was in Seattle taking part in Richard Sherman’s charity softball game and Kobe went yard, as caught on Instagram by Lakersworld 16. Kobe’s even got the home run trot part down.

I never doubted Kobe would sign for less…

      lol…

Your trying to be funny but your statement should say that you “always doubted” because he DIDN’T sign for less. If your gonna hate on Kobe at least make some sense about it

I wouldn’t doubt that the Lakers would ttrade Kobe’s contract to the Dodgers.

At his age, he seems more fit for the Phillies.

Hey, that’s pretty cool. Kobe was terrible in the home run derby portion but made up for it here.

I think Nate Robinson won the home run derby actually.

A softball game with a pitching screen? Really?

    Kobe bats lefty? Sick!

  6. khmerson562 - Jul 21, 2014 at 6:02 PM

    If Kobe plays baseball he would bats 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 his team mates wouldn’t get an at bats.

Kobe and Sherman—talk about two athletes that deserve each other….

    • Mr. Wright 212 - Jul 21, 2014 at 6:18 PM

Yup, despised by mental weaklings such as you and your ilk…

      • jimmy53 - Jul 21, 2014 at 8:18 PM

ouch–hit a sore spot did I? Listen, they’re tremendous athletes, but they’re both complete a-holes.

Won’t speak to your own teammates for no reason?–yup, you’re an a-hole.

Grab the mic right after a big game and start blasting a losing player, and then later talk about choking him out?–yup, you’re an a-hole.

Use the word “ilk” when trying to put down someone else’s mental aptitude?—yup, you’re an a-hole.

Is it just me or is Kobe looking on the heavy side here? I don’t know if it’s the angle or what, but he looks like he put on a lot of weight!

    • asimonetti88 - Jul 21, 2014 at 7:36 PM

      baseball jerseys are not flattering

      • redbaronx - Jul 22, 2014 at 1:06 PM

@asimonetti88 – I know what you mean. But still….I’ve been hearing reports that Kobe has gained weight. From looking at that video he just seemed HEAVY.

Why are the bases in so close?

    • seattlerogueburner - Jul 21, 2014 at 9:26 PM

      Go Hawks.

    • bkbell3 - Jul 21, 2014 at 10:48 PM

Home run is nice but the fences are about 220 feet which is about where little league has them. The bases are probably 60′ which is what most softball fields play at. The best softball players in the country play tournaments in major league stadiums and can hit the ball as far as 500 feet. Just some info, not trying to clown a game like this.

You forgot to include this great quote from Kobe:

“I’ve always enjoyed coming here. I’d much rather come here in the postseason than Oklahoma,” Bryant said.

For similar reasons, he now joins guys like Barkley & Shaq that are A-OK in my book.
