PBT Extra: Why Lance Stephenson chose Charlotte and Jordan

Jul 16, 2014, 3:14 PM EDT

I’m sweating it out in Las Vegas for Summer League — I’m only here for the basketball, nothing else to do here, just a quiet little trip — but jumped on the phone for a latest edition of PBT Extra with Matt Stroup to talk about the latest NBA developments.

Our three topics:

Why did Lance Stephenson take less guaranteed money to go to Charlotte?

Is Mike Miller the start of a trend in Cleveland?

Should the Cavaliers trade Andrew Wiggins as part of a deal to get Kevin Love?

    1) In two years the owners will see more $$ in TV revenue and an ideal time to be a FA.

    2) Less money to win? Miami started that

    3) No , Lebron will be basically playing the stretch 4

Cleveland’s GM, LeBron James, should be able to get aging vets to Cleveland, but his biggest hurdle is selling Cleveland as a viable option for guys with children, it’s still Cleveland. LeBron James made a mistake by going back to Cleveland, he had outgrown the area. He should have gone to an LA or NY team. How we’re the tv ratings with LeBron and Cavs? The league’s popularity sky rocketed with the big 3, it’s going to take a step back in all likelihood now that they are trying to rollout pre 2010 product.

Huh? Think about the NBAs popularity with Lebron “coming home” and with games against the Heat, and when the Cavs play their first home game. Also, imagine the ratings, Lebrons popularity and the NBAs popularity if the Cavs win a ring. C’mon man….

You cheer for other teams to win?

This runs like a wwf script. It’s Hollywood Hogan going back to the red and yellow allover again. At first it’s cool and nostalgic, but you really want to see the NWO and all of its stars like the Heat.

He made a basketball career mistake, not a mistake in his personal life. LeBron, been there done that. Now it’s just LeBron with a bunch of young guys in Cleveland. Now you will change this entire story if they swing Kevin Love.

      • Hard On For Harden - Jul 16, 2014 at 4:40 PM

Yes, because the NWO had such a LONG shelf life and the storylines weren’t completely off the wall with little impact within a year (insert sarcasm)

Where did I say I root for other teams to win?!? Exactly guy. Lebron in Cleveland with a bunch of young guys? Thompson, Varega, and Irving?? They all compliment him very well. Far from a “wwf” type script, just another fan mad at Lebrons decision to go back.

Because Charlotte is the best city in America, thriving economy, beautiful city, close to anything you could possibly want. Welcome to the queen city Mr. Stephenson, We welcome you with open arms!

Exactly!!! I agree loubearkane…..it is nice with plenty to do and obviously a place for athletes to get in trouble (heh)!!!!

Yes, of all the cities unable to financially support a sports franchise, Charlotte is the least undesirable.
