Report: Hawks sign Kent Bazemore to two-year, $4 million contract

Jul 11, 2014, 10:52 PM EDT

The Lakers aren’t keeping all their marginal players.

Nick Young is re-signing, and Jordan Hill is also returning to Los Angeles.

But Kent Bazemore is headed East.

Marc Stein of ESPN:

Bazemore will compete with Kyle Korver, DeMarre Carroll, John Jenkins and the recently signed Thabo Sefolosha for minutes. There’s not an easy track to playing time in Atlanta.

But if Bazemore spends a lot of time on the bench, that would at least allow the rest of us to watch more of his signature sideline celebrations.

Kent Bazemore is a solid player, but he went for the money, like he should have. Would have liked to keep him for depth if it had come at the right price.

Ouch. This one hurts, was looking forward to seeing more of him in a Laker uniform. Guess he wanted that $4 mil, go get it.

Awww maaan!! We got poached! Lakets fell asleep on that one. Would’ve REALLY loved to have him back. Well, guess you can’t have it all. I’ll take Hill and Young coming back, and the sweet surprise addition of Lin and count my blessings. Cheers to a good NBA (offseason) day.

are you saying they’re keeping the WRONG players and letting the good ones get away?

Super curious as to how you drew that conclusion afyer reading my post.

Nothing of that sort is implied.

Man this free agency is making it so difficult to update my 2K rosters…

Play with Bazemore on 2K14 and tell me he don’t beast out like a Kevin Durant-lite!

I’mma miss him in real life, AND 2k!

ATL will be a good system for Baze to find his game. They run the Spurs motion, and everyone touches the ball.

So this is the time where teams start signing whoever strolls through the door. Hey,there’s 4 more guys who fill your role here but here’s some money anyways.

i dont understand that the lakers are doing as they are not the lakers of dr buss. this is sooo stupid it defies logic on many levels. baze is an exciting and young player that the lakers sorely needed to retain and they let him walk??? they have no coach, no Pau, and no direction I am out…
