Marco Belinelli gets a tattoo to commemorate Spurs championship (PHOTO)

This isn’t exactly Jason Terry calling his shot by getting a Larry O’Brien trophy tattooed on his bicep before a championship season ever began, but it’s fairly cool nonetheless.

Marco Belinelli was a free agent acquisition of the Spurs last summer, and appeared in 80 regular season games while averaging 11.4 points in 25.2 minutes of action, and shooting a career-best 43 percent from three-point distance.

He played sparingly in the Finals, and managed to get on the floor for just 19 minutes in total over the last three games of the series. But the season as a whole was a positive, and one that he certainly contributed to — so in his eyes, that warranted commemorating the occasion with a large tattoo on his left bicep.

“The Larry O’Brien trophy now resides on Belinelli’s left bicep for all of eternity.”

Or until his flesh rots in his casket or his flesh burns up when he’s cremated…

The rest of his life… yeah.

    Eternity? Not so much…

sucks when facts are facts doesn’t it…

      • ranfan12 - Jun 29, 2014 at 6:17 PM

no. just sucks when literalness is taken seriously to kill vibes lol

      • sportsfan18 - Jun 29, 2014 at 7:01 PM

        ran

        truth is truth

        facts are facts

truth is a defense to libel and slander

not liking something, if it IS correct, doesn’t change the fact that it is correct.

in society toady, we no longer know what the truth is…

people are not sorry they did or do something wrong, just that they got caught.

when people make a mistake and you know, say something that is NOT correct, they can’t and won’t admit it.

So, a VIBE is MORE important than truth, facts and being correct and right to you?

        Good to know…

You made my point exactly. To hell with the truth, facts and being right…It’s ABOUT the vibe…

      • sportsfan18 - Jun 29, 2014 at 7:04 PM

        ran

Oh, the all important VIBE could have been maintained while stating something that was correct vs. incorrect you know…

Could been has a tattoo that will be with him for the rest of his life…

        or something similar.

See BOTH the VIBE and being correct, factual could have been done…

Why not accomplish the all important vibe while being honest, factual, correct, right?

Not a fan of tattoos, but GO SPURS GO

  3. norcalkingsfan - Jun 29, 2014 at 5:03 PM

If I did something as rare as win an NBA championship, I’d probably do the same. What, there have only been about five hundred-or-so humans to have done so?

If people get tats for winning fantasy leagues, and NBA championship tattoo is not that large a stretch.

Why? What was the point of that comment?

    • sportsfan18 - Jun 29, 2014 at 6:06 PM

The point sir is that the comment that the tattoo would be on his left bicep for all of eternity was not correct. It was not factual. It is incorrect.

It’s as wrong as saying 1 plus 1 equals 17. Both are wrong.

That is all. Nothing more, nothing less.

Those not liking the truth, well… I may not change that.

Walt Kowalski? Is that you over there?

      • seattlesuperchronic - Jun 29, 2014 at 7:06 PM

You are beyond ridiculous. There’s a big difference between hyperbole and fact. Obviously hyperbole was being used in the article. Your pseudo intellectual garbage doesn’t work on me. You sound like a teenager trying to be edgy.

      • getlow81 - Jun 29, 2014 at 7:14 PM

        Or a hipster!

Hipsters, yuck. Those goobers give me the skeevies.

The tattoo ,coming after the fact is a better decision than Jason Terry getting his before the season started.

  6. ravenswhat - Jun 29, 2014 at 6:13 PM

Hey Marco, people actually need to contribute to a finals win to be able to pull that off. Clown!

  7. 00maltliquor - Jun 29, 2014 at 6:50 PM

You ain’t really a boss unless you get that tat before the playoffs even end like Jason Terry!

  8. jamesinva - Jun 29, 2014 at 7:54 PM

The spelling and grammar errors on this site are a joke, however the whole “eternity” thing is fine. Sportsfan taking things literally is ridiculous. I swear if I won the lottery, I’d pay someone to follow him around and correct him at every move:

    Sportsfan: “I am the man!”
Paid Intern or whatever the heck you wanna call him: “Actually you are a man, not “the” man. In fact you are just a boy.”

Sportsfan: “I am so hungry I could eat a whole cow!”
Paid Intern: “No actually you cannot eat a cow, in fact, no human being can eat an entire cow, maybe a piece of it but not the whole thing.”

    Sportsfan: “OH MY GOD!”
Paid Intern: “No Sportsfan, he is not just your God but to religious people, God is for everyone not just you. The term “my” is very selfish there and God loves everyone therefore you cannot say that.”

    Sportsfan: “I’m an idiot”
Paid Intern: “Yes Sportsfan….yes you are.”

    • innovativethinking87 - Jun 30, 2014 at 12:17 AM

Hahaha good one.. That should make him feel stupid

    • davidly - Jun 30, 2014 at 4:50 AM

Sure. But the “all of eternity” thing is tone deaf even as a metaphor and doesn’t come close to any of the examples you satirically cite in terms of awareness of irony.

The King is dead! Long live the New Kings, the SA Spurs! All the insiders said it couldn’t be done! How does the crow taste?? It would look better on Kwaii but Belinelli did help get them there and he hit some key shots when the Heat tried to come back! Go SpursGo!!
