Evan Turner’s Ferrari runs out of gas (video)

Jun 24, 2014, 12:00 AM EDT

Thanks to Evan Turner’s former Ohio State teammate P.J. Hill, we now have a perfect metaphor for the career of Turner, who was the No. 2 pick in the 2010 draft and then received seven DNP-CDS in the 2014 playoffs.

But Turner also re-filled the gas tank, so maybe that signifies a happy free agency for the Pacers wing?

Just shows you how ridiculous gas prices are getting when even millionaires are drivin’ around on “E.”

I just cannot stand still while listening this crap from an States citizen. I live in Europe and here gas is over twice times more expensive and the medium wage is over 3 times less. It means gas is over 6 times more expensive for an European. That’s what makes it so painful listening to American’s grumblings.

Different lifestyle in Europe – more people use alternative forms of transportation. In the States people drive everywhere, so the average American ends up spending more of their annual income on gas compared to the average European.

Plus, you have diesel all over Europe and a gallon of that over there is cheaper than a gallon of gas here.

        notinmyhouse, you’re opinion is irrelevant.

Stating your from Europe is pretty vague. Europe is doing better than pretty much everywhere except the US, and couple countries like Luxembourg and Switzerland seem to be doing even a little better. If you are from Czech Republic or Russia or something then it’s understandable but most of Europe seems relatively on par with US. Interesting looking at the statistics though, thanks for that.

Wait until we start grumbling about dirty Euro guys in capris and striped shirts.

That small gallon for that huge motor… He better get to a gas station quick or he might need another gallon.

  5. rskinzluva - Jun 24, 2014 at 1:33 AM

I drive a car that has a gas gauge and a makes a sound, when less than 1/4 tank is left. If his has neither, he should by another one or just fill up every time he gets in it. Basically, he either not bright or can’t read a dial/number. So why would anyone think he’d learn their plays?

I’m surprised this Kermit-sounding dude even has a girl. My buddy worked in the Sixers organization and told me that absolutely no one was hazed and tortured more than ET during his time in Philly. He is flat-out soft, doesn’t possess one single iota of toughness, and has a non-existent killer instinct. To think that Paul George went some 6 picks later than this clown in the draft, it boggles my mind…but as they say-hindsight is always 20/20.

You have to remember that it’s not only American college players getting drafted, it’s people from all over the world on almost every continent, so for Evan Turner to be seen as the 2nd best player on the planet who entered into the draft…it’s utterly ridiculous. If he finds his niche on a team and gets comfortable in their system, he may work out, but until then I have zero reservations about calling him a BUST.

    • skammyfresh - Jun 24, 2014 at 2:56 AM

Yes it makes no sense at all how a consensus All-American and National player of the year who was the first player to ever be ranked in the top two nationally in points, rebounds and assists per game would be selected over a second team All-WAC selection from Fresno State….not to mention they both have about the same numbers when both are given a chance to play….not that reality matters at all

    • turnmymicup - Jun 24, 2014 at 3:49 AM

Bust is a bit harsh. We see players of his caliber fall short of high expectations all the time. Almost every year pretty much. Before getting in the league ET used to hoop serious. Check tape if you don’t remember. A lot of players fail to make the transition to the NBA.

    • campcouch - Jun 24, 2014 at 5:45 AM

Most people would suck too if they got tortured and hazed at work. Besides, blame the Sixers for passing on the likes of: Cousins,Monroe,Stephenson,Hayward,George, and Bledsoe, not him.

    …halfway between Philadelphia and Indianapolis.

      Halfway out of the league

    …halfway through the 2014 playoffs.

  10. mungman69 - Jun 24, 2014 at 4:01 AM

I read many stories about Evan Turner before he was drafted and many said that he couldn’t shoot (he can’t) and that he was soft (he is). No one thought much of anyone in this draft after John Wall was gone.

  11. mnsadsportsfan - Jun 24, 2014 at 7:26 AM

Just like the team he played on.

  12. sixerstrong - Jun 25, 2014 at 7:51 AM

He may want to trade that Ferrari for something a bit more gas efficient with the contract he’s played himself into (out of?).
