Gregg Popovich appears to poke fun at LeBron, Heat during Spurs championship parade (VIDEO)

Jun 18, 2014, 10:29 PM EDT

Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich was nothing but complementary and respectful of the Heat in the moments immediately following his Game 5 victory that sealed San Antonio’s 2014 NBA title.

But during the championship parade along the River Walk on Wednesday, he appeared to be having some fun at the expense of the recently dethroned defending champs.

Popovich can be seen counting off his championships in the clip below, and while it’s unclear if that was a specific shot at LeBron James and his infamous “Not one, not two, not three …” comment he made at the pep rally back in 2010 when the Heat first came together, it’s much more fun to assume that was the case.

    No mamen!

    • tomshoe - Jun 18, 2014 at 11:38 PM

      Lol anitstatfordian

      you mad bro?

  2. bostonian13 - Jun 18, 2014 at 10:42 PM

One of the best to ever do it.

  3. timcast12 - Jun 18, 2014 at 10:51 PM

Lebron will never get to 3

    • lakerdownunder - Jun 18, 2014 at 11:07 PM

I think he probably will, but lets be honest Duncan was one fluke Ray Allen 3 pointer away, and a missed tip in, from 6 and Lebron still being on 1.

      • antistratfordian - Jun 19, 2014 at 1:50 AM

Fluke? What is a flue about Ray Allen hitting a corner three? The Heat had 19 seconds to make a three pointer to tie the game and they did. Why do people think that’s a miracle play?

And Duncan’s missed tip in was to tie Game 7, not win it. LeBron hit the winner. That was not a fluke either.

      • packergator - Jun 19, 2014 at 8:41 AM

        Shoulda, coulda, woulda – didn’t.

      • 1historian - Jun 19, 2014 at 10:10 AM

That was no fluke. That was why Ray chose to sign with the Heat for $3 mil less than what the Celts offered him. Ray Allen is known for shots like that – and if he had signed with the Celts he wouldn’t have been there to take the shot.

    • ranfan12 - Jun 19, 2014 at 12:29 AM

lbj getting 3 is more likely than a 3peat

      • money2long - Jun 19, 2014 at 1:08 AM

Riley mad he still can’t use that word

    • ProBasketballPundit - Jun 19, 2014 at 6:14 PM

So what? LeBron doesn’t need 3 to go down as a top ten all time player. Hell, he already is. He’ll only add to his legacy.

  4. theblackrook - Jun 18, 2014 at 11:05 PM

And the media again tries to manufacture beef.

    • sdlakerfan - Jun 19, 2014 at 2:05 PM

Right – obviously counting Spurs championships. Not his style to dis Lebron.

      • macka4 - Jun 19, 2014 at 11:59 PM

I agree, but either way, LeBron is behind.

  5. lakerade - Jun 18, 2014 at 11:05 PM

Hand gestures and phrases did happen before Lebron, y’know? Three of those rings he counted off also came before. The two since came at Lebron’s expense, in convincing fashion.

Besides, Pop always puts on a show for the fans. He’s good for basketball.

  6. retxedfred - Jun 18, 2014 at 11:08 PM

This Donald Sutherland is quite a funny guy!

  7. seattlesuperchronic - Jun 18, 2014 at 11:30 PM

Hehe, manufactured beef. That made me chuckle.

  8. Gordon - Jun 18, 2014 at 11:47 PM

As much as I would love to buy this story, this feels like a real stretch. Methinks you are reading too much into a lighthearted moment.

  9. davidly - Jun 19, 2014 at 12:53 AM

Good, innocent fun with the home fans. His delivery is actually pretty good. I wonder if he practiced.

    • loungefly74 - Jun 19, 2014 at 8:36 AM

Pop just having fun. yup. always best to do so after winning.

      • 1historian - Jun 19, 2014 at 10:11 AM

Not to mention that he wouldn’t have been there if he hadn[t won.

        Good fun, funny. That’s all.

  10. Nadeem - Jun 19, 2014 at 1:40 AM

He was counting the 5 championships the Spurs have won till date..

    • pdub923 - Jun 19, 2014 at 1:59 AM

      Yes. That was the joke.

  11. antistratfordian - Jun 19, 2014 at 1:52 AM

It’s easy to count them after the fact… but only a certain type of supreme boss has the sack to do it beforehand.

    • kavika6 - Jun 19, 2014 at 4:30 AM

      You mean the arrogance.

    • davidly - Jun 19, 2014 at 8:20 AM

It’s not easy to count them after the fact; you have to win them first.

    • av416 - Jun 19, 2014 at 8:29 AM

Lol Anti did you really just give Lebron love for his not 1, not 2, not 3, antics? That’s a new level of homer.

    • bougin89 - Jun 19, 2014 at 9:21 AM

We all know your obsessed with Lebron, Anti, but this is getting borderline creepy.

      • antistratfordian - Jun 19, 2014 at 5:53 PM

Your reaction only tells me that this was one of my better comments. I knew it was when I made it.

      • bougin89 - Jun 20, 2014 at 9:59 AM

So you really are trolling? You said yourself you don’t do that. You’re confusing.

      • antistratfordian - Jun 20, 2014 at 4:21 PM

        Trolling is relative.

    • 1historian - Jun 19, 2014 at 10:12 AM

      In what parade?

      • antistratfordian - Jun 19, 2014 at 5:54 PM

The supreme boss had the sack to have a celebration for future rings, which he then went out and won.

    • azarkhan - Jun 19, 2014 at 1:22 PM

Anti knows all about LeBron’s “sack”.

      • antistratfordian - Jun 19, 2014 at 5:59 PM

I only know what we all know – that they’re made of titanium and are big enough for Miley Cyrus to swing on.

  12. enigma2742 - Jun 19, 2014 at 2:29 AM

    • packergator - Jun 19, 2014 at 8:42 AM

And Lebron will dominate after Duncan’s sitting in his rocking chair – what’s your point?

    • imakcds - Jun 19, 2014 at 10:43 AM

and when LeBron was in the 7th grade, he was probably 18 yrs old.

  13. seagram757 - Jun 19, 2014 at 6:05 AM

If that’s the case Miami should’ve won. Why even play the game if ur gonna crown yourself champs lol.

  14. cantonbound13 - Jun 19, 2014 at 6:50 AM

The Heat, Legina, & the bandwagon fans are a national joke!

    • packergator - Jun 19, 2014 at 8:43 AM

Someone became a Spurs fan real quickly. Troll.

  15. imakcds - Jun 19, 2014 at 10:44 AM

fact of the matter, if you make such an arrogant statement, you become a TARGET, and deservedly so.

  16. arrondior - Jun 19, 2014 at 12:54 PM

    Haha. Good one Pop!

  17. rn1997 - Jun 19, 2014 at 2:21 PM

At least he’ll be rocking in that chair with 5 rings on his fingers, a career spanning 17+ years & a few bucks in his pocket!!! Not bad if you ask me………it seems like Lebron has some catching up to do………well maybe not in the bucks department but I have a feeling Timmy will take the 5 rings anyday!!!

    • macka4 - Jun 20, 2014 at 12:01 AM

      Could be more (than 6).

  18. jacobk621 - Jun 19, 2014 at 4:29 PM

Hey Anti ,, you are aware that in the final 19 seconds of game 6 last year your hero LeChoke missed on his 3 point attempt and due to a very lucky bounce and Tim Duncan not in the game the ball by some miracle wound up in Allen’s hand and he did hit the 3 ,, but never ever forget your boy missed his attempt ,,, someone posted on here that you are borderline crazy with this obsession with LeChoke ,, I agree 100 percent

  19. packergator - Jun 19, 2014 at 4:49 PM

Everyone’s a comedian when the target is so high-profile and easy to criticize.

  20. eugenesaxe1 - Jun 19, 2014 at 5:03 PM

Props to Pop. He earned the right to bust chops.

  21. the1nonlyk - Jun 19, 2014 at 7:46 PM

i hope lebron does in fact leave the heat as that would: 1)prove he is the kind of chump that leaves when the goin gets tough; 2) make all of the crazy lebronnutsuckers follow him to his new team thereby proving his deranged fans dont even care about the game of basketball and 3) finally disprove the decision and the not 1, not 2, not 3 etc. so come on duhbron move along already and take ur crazy nuthugger worshippers with u
