Kevin Love, is it true you want out of Minnesota? ‘Uh, you know, my agent is handling everything at this point.’

Jun 11, 2014, 9:43 PM EDT

Up until now, the reports of Kevin Love wanting out of Minnesota were just that, with zero confirmation behind them coming from the player himself.

That changed a bit on Wednesday, when Love appeared on ESPN’s SportsNation.

Love was (of course) grilled by the panel about whether or not he wants to leave, and his answers didn’t exactly inspire Timberwolves fans into holding out hope that he would be willing to stay.

When asked if the reports were true, Love hesitated before deflecting responsibility.

“Uh, you know, my agent is handling everything at this point,” he said. “I’m hoping that everything works out for all parties involved.”

Translation: Love is already gone.

The Timberwolves have more than half the league ready to trade for Love if the franchise heeds his apparent warning, that he’ll leave at the end of next season in free agency if he isn’t traded sooner. But if he really wants to go, speaking about it publicly — even non-specifically like this — only hurts his chances.

Minnesota obviously would like to get assets in return for its franchise player, but any offers will be diminished if Love continues to force the issue. The Timberwolves could ride out the season with him in place if nothing enticing enough comes along. It would only delay the inevitable, but would keep Love in a purgatory of sorts for a season longer than necessary.

“Maybe” then LBJ could win those 8 titles he promised the Heat “fans.”

Aww, poor baby is jealous that his man crush Kobe is stuck on 5.

Youd be LeBrons biggest fan if he wound up in LA(not happening) yet here you are again, acting like a teenage girl. You are sickening.

Ohh, I see what this is, now that he wants out of your dreadful city he’s going to be disrespected. What’s next, piling up his jerseys and setting them on fire?!

      • tomasekradek - Jun 12, 2014 at 3:54 AM

He’s going to be disrespected anyway because he is natural born loser with great stats and great whining, that’s all. If we talk about dwight never winning a title, this guy would be lucky to get out of first round. You need to put up some effort, especially on D. All the effort i’ve seen from him last 2-3 years is talking about how the team sucks, how coach sucks, how his contract sucks, how refs suck, whatever.
Make your team better, do you job with heart involved and EARN a better contract Kevin. Then you’ll have the right to talk s..t and earn some respect.

Just like you loved Dwight Howard and crowed about the trade that brought himbto LA, remember, you said they were a lock for the WCF? You lost a bet on that, but youre too much of a weasel to have paid off on it.

Now after Dwight leaves, he was a liability and he doesnt have the fortitude? Dont you ever tire of being a hypocrite? You do realize that what you post on here, stays here forever, right?

I really wish you werent such a CS. Id really love to kytfo.

Funny, he thinks you are a self entitled biotch.

“But if he really wants to go, speaking about it publicly — even non-specifically like this — only hurts his chances.”

Uh, no, that only hurt Minnesota’s chances at getting 75 cents on the dollar. Love can walk away regardless at the end of the season. He’ll be free to sign with anyone that can afford him. There is nothing that he can say, even non-specifically, that is going to change that.

It’s the culture of the NBA but that is what you get when you have a sport in which a culture of the individual star player and not the team having all the power was established a long time ago and it’s only gotten worse.

I guess there aren’t selfish players in other sports. Nice blanket statement with absolutely nothing of substance to back it up.

  6. 00maltliquor - Jun 11, 2014 at 11:27 PM

Why can’t these giys be upfront and honest about things. It’s not like they aren’t the ones directly telling their agentshow and when to move and shake. It’s not like his agent is striking a deal with Cleveland or Milwaukee behind his back and he’ll find out about it later once the deals done. Be honest man.

    • kinggw - Jun 12, 2014 at 10:57 AM

Because he’s not a free agent and talking about going to other teams while your still under contract is frowned upon.

  7. paoconno - Jun 12, 2014 at 1:04 AM

Us true Twolves fans have known he has been gone for weeks now, today changes nothing. if the Bulls swap both their picks for the Nuggets # 11, then that pick, plus Butler, the euro stud Miretic, and either Gibson or Boozer would be a good haul. Just pull the trigger Flip and lets all move on.

    • mcjon22 - Jun 12, 2014 at 11:55 AM

Absolutely no way Chicago or any team would make that trade. The 1st pick, next years 1st, Boozers expiring contract and Gibson OR Butler OR Mitoric. No way you guys are getting 3 starters and multiple 1st round picks.

He’s Kevin Love, not Kevin Durant.

    Welcome to Phoenix!

    • 00maltliquor - Jun 12, 2014 at 1:51 AM

That’s actually a cool idea. Big time long shot but I think that would be a good look.

  9. tcstunner - Jun 12, 2014 at 3:55 AM

You could put Lebron on this current Wolves roster and they would’ve made the playoffs. Why? Because he’s an actual superstar that can put a team on his back. Love is not. He’s a fantasy basketball player. Puts up great numbers but can’t carry a team. He’s a Robin (at best) but definitely not a Batman. The Wolves should trade him ASAP and let someone else worry about his complete and utter lack of defense, and his constant whining about not getting calls.

  10. azarkhan - Jun 12, 2014 at 10:08 AM

Hard to believe the idiot host on Sportsnation asked Love if he would want to play for the Knicks just because Pheeeel Jackson is there. Uhh, he has said repeatedly he wants to play for a winner, which rules out the Knicks.

  11. therealdave123 - Jun 12, 2014 at 10:28 AM

Translation: My agent is handling my move to Boston.

    • simoneauchristopher5 - Jun 12, 2014 at 12:22 PM

That’s exactly what is happening. When someone has a TV interview & the one stipulation is “we can’t answer questions about Boston”, there is something going on. His agent didn’t meet him at the Red Sox game to eat a hot dog. It was to tell him to get the deal done w/Boston.

Deuces to you, ya selfish prik!
