What’s the rush?

Seriously. Fans and media members are putting pressure on teams like the Lakers, Knicks and even the Utah Jazz to just pick a coach already. People want to know why this is taking so long.

What’s the rush, exactly? None of these teams have a game tomorrow. Or for months yet. It would be nice to have a coach’s input on the upcoming NBA Draft, but it’s not essential. What matters more is getting the right person.

The Jazz are continuing their coaching search and respected Atlanta Hawks assistant Quin Snyder remains the front runner, reports Jody Genessy at the Deseret News.

(Current Jazz assistant) Brad Jones is on the short list with former Missouri coach Quin Snyder, longtime NBA coach Alvin Gentry and Bulls assistant Adrian Griffin, according to multiple sources.

Although the Jazz still have a tough decision to make, it’s believed that the 47-year-old Snyder remains in the front of the pack.

The Jazz are a patient organization — they just gave Ty Corbin five years of opportunity — so don’t expect a rushed decision.

What they need is a coach who can develop young talent — they have Derrick Favors and Trey Burke, plus the No. 4 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. The Jazz are starting to assemble some pieces, but they need to turn those pieces into something. They need the right guy to guide that.

Utah will take its time getting there.
