Potential second-round draft pick gets choked by coach

Bogdan Bogdanović is projected as a second-round pick in the 2014 NBA draft. A 21-year-old shooting guard from Serbia, he has quality size and a solid skillset, but he lacks the athleticism necessary to put his draft stock over top.

He can also slightly lose his temper after an, admittedly bad, foul call.

That doesn’t excuse the “coaching” that followed (hat tip: Barry Petchesky of Deadspin):

You think Bogdanović is pulling a Dario Saric and fooling around about when he’ll join the NBA? If Bogdanović isn’t stateside next season, he’s a glutton for punishment (and/or facing contractual hang-ups).

Coach is WAY out of line. The kid was just reacting to the call- how many NBA players have done something similar? Most! There is no call for that kind of physical abuse.

Shut up. That wasn’t a choke. This wasn’t even post-worthy.

how you get thumbed down for this i will never know. this was a waste of time and wasnt even a choke like you said

Coach would be pulling splinters out of his mouth if that happened in America.

    • jcmeyer10 - Jun 3, 2014 at 10:20 PM

He’d be pulling out his resume.

Yeah because the players in the NBA are so tough nowadays. Better bring in a “players” coach to stroke all those egos.

now if spree was coaching your team they´d try harder, run faster, jump higher and beat the crap out of the competition – I “loved” when Spree went after Carlessimo, cause if you go back – GSW had something going back then with a core of Hardaway, Sprewell,Mullin and Webber – then came the front-office, messing things up and a coach not able to guide his team anywhere but to the next downward spiral..I just wish it would have been another player to try and make Carlessimo go away

      • eugenesaxe1 - Jun 4, 2014 at 3:13 PM

Yeah, Sprewell was a genius. Turned down 29mil guaranteed, never set foot on the court again.

I’d love to see him try that with Metta World Peace. Or any other NBA player actually.

    • jcmeyer10 - Jun 3, 2014 at 10:41 PM

I’d want to see him vs Latrell.

I bet he wishes he actually did have a “solid skillet”

I watch and follow a lot of basketball, and I have no idea what a “skillet” is, in a basketball sense.

I wonder if coach said, “Why you little…”

    • eugenesaxe1 - Jun 4, 2014 at 3:15 PM

      We have a winner!

PJ Carlesimo is watching with envious eyes, wishing he had the balls to do that back in the days.

    • nickjackalson - Jun 4, 2014 at 8:14 AM

      PJ is full of…

  8. oumoonunit - Jun 4, 2014 at 1:22 AM

    He has nothing on Kristic.

Bogdan is not a potential second round pick considering he was already drafted by the nets and is their eurostash. Good research tho

    • Dan Feldman - Jun 4, 2014 at 8:02 AM

The Nets drafted Bojan Bogdanović. This is Bogdan Bogdanović. Unless you think all Bogdanovićs are the same?

      • eugenesaxe1 - Jun 4, 2014 at 3:17 PM

They all look alike to us.

    Someone the Knicks need badly…
