Pau Gasol swings by Sesame Street (VIDEO)

Jun 3, 2014, 8:34 PM EDT

Sources say free agent Paul Gasol is being recruited by Elmo to join the Sesame Street team next season. Insert your own joke here about how Sesame Street is less of a circus than Mike D’Antoni’s Lakers last year.

The NBA has a running tradition with the educational children’s show, going back to Dr. J and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar up through Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin and now Pau Gasol. Dwight Howard seemed to fit in especially well, but I guess that shouldn’t be a surprise.

I’ve never understood why they have celebrities on Sesame Street. My 4 year old nephew doesn’t give a damn about some strange adult that they’ve never heard of. And I don’t think the parents care, either.

      Then you think wrong.

Why would parents care if a celebrity they know is talking to Big Bird? You really get entertainment out of that? Small minds are easily entertained.

I bet Pau Gasol’s nieces and nephews thought it was cool. If you were on Sesame Street wouldn’t your nephew like it?

So they let celebrities on to their TV show to appease said celebrities child relatives only? To make one household happy? That makes no business sense. Try again.

Seriously, can you just give the Dwight man-child jokes a rest???

They don’t think we can do it! It’s 300 of us against all the Persians.
