Watch: Doc Rivers’ locker room speech to Clippers following Game 7 win over Warriors

May 4, 2014, 3:30 PM EDT

We aren’t usually privy to the moments immediately following a victory inside a team’s locker room, but occasionally in the postseason (or under special circumstances), we are able to get a glimpse.

Following the Clippers taking down the Warriors in Game 7, we see Doc Rivers briefly giving his players a postgame speech. It isn’t lengthy, but it is passionate, with Rivers explaining to his team that the challenges they’ve overcome early in the playoffs will pay dividends later.

“We needed that,” Rivers said. “The adversity is good for us.”

What challenges have they over come. Oh yeah; the challenges of making millions of dollars to work for a boss that all of you knew was a racist. Doc even forced his way out of Boston to work for Sterling. Surely these guys just found all of this out (that’s sarcasm).

Lol, I have no idea how they were able to muster the strength to play.

Oh yeah, by still cashing Sterling’s checks.

Yeah, you just invoked the “nine-eleven as tragedy to trump all others” religion and you’re calling people out for being melodramatic?

    • ranfan12 - May 4, 2014 at 9:41 PM

they’ve overcome the challenge of not losing. it’s easier said than done.

So have a lot of other teams. People played games after 9/11, so let’s stop being melodramatic and making this more than it is.

        Sticks and stones.

“Great game guys, you know Mr. Sterling has cancer and might not have much time here on Earth so let’s charge through these playoffs on the way to a championship! Do this for the boss man! Sterling on 3…”

Was that before or after the brawl?
