Vince Carter beats buzzer with game-winning 3-pointer (video)

Apr 26, 2014, 7:27 PM EDT

Vince Carter had 1.7 seconds to shoot, and he used it all.

Carter caught the inbound in the corner, pump-faked to get Manu Ginobili – who had just made a go-ahead shot on the other end – into the air and then drilled the game-winning 3-pointer.

This series has been great, and this ending sequence took it to another level. The way it’s going, hopefully it goes the full seven.

Somehow, with so many veterans, they’re even doing things they’ve never done before:

After losing 10 straight to the Spurs, Dallas has now won two in a row in the series. San Antonio is too good to be considered on the ropes, but Carter’s big shot definitely increases the pressure.

    WHAT. A. GAME!

This entire post season has been amazing!

    • casualcommenter - Apr 26, 2014 at 8:21 PM

Absolutely. There are so many competitive series going on right now, even in the Eastern Conference. This is the best round 1 in awhile.

absolutely amazing! no surprise there, dallas is 49 wins in the season and it actually makes them 3rd or 4th in easter conference… western conference is so competitive, every series is a coin flip!

Wet. People forget about VC’s three point clutch prowess. According to basketball-reference’s shot finder, this shot makes him 11 for 21 on game winning attempts by three pointer under 10 seconds. That’s 52.3%!

that’s an interesting bit of trivia

That’s a decent percentage from that distance and with that time left. Love the trivia, and most of your comments, as well.

Id like to see where you got this from. Espn directly contradicts what you say, saying its his first career go ahead shot in the final minute of a game. Im a nets fan who remembers the days of Vince choking in the final minutes of games very well. Please give us a link for your wonderful info.

He did; just google basketball reference. A fantastic resource for the stat-crazed.

ESPN did not contradict me at all. They’re only talking about the playoffs, which would be correct. My numbers include the playoffs and the regular season, and any diehard basketball fan should be able to recall at least 1 of Vince’s 13 game winners under 10 seconds in the regular season.

He just hit such a game winning three a few months ago against the Hornets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztJV27tvidM

Btw, Carter has made 36 go-ahead shots in the final minute of regular season games: http://bkref.com/tiny/1DC6Z

That’s weird, because I certainly remember Vince hitting his fair share of clutch shots in the swamp.

Not in the offs you dont, and neither do I.

One of the few times you could tell a last second desperation right on the line 3-pointer was going in! Vince still has it: a game winning shot while falling away from the corner doesn’t suck. VINCE!

Plus he was fouled on that shot!!

    More than just half amazing.

Vince Carter is such a clown. I love how the Raptor fans always boo his ass when he goes back to TO.
