Grizzlies’ Mike Conley arrives for Game 3 wearing a wooden hat (VIDEO)

Apr 24, 2014, 9:43 PM EDT

Mike Conley is among the many players who take pride in being on the cutting edge of fashion, and displaying that with creative clothing choices worn to the arena on game days.

He created a bit of a buzz last season when he wore a wooden bow tie to a playoff game, and has followed that up by wearing a wooden-brimmed hat to the Grindhouse for Thursday’s Game 3 against the Thunder.

For the complete story of how this particular decision came to pass, Lance Fresh of Bleacher Report breaks it down with Conley and his stylist in the video clip above.

If things keep going the way they are, this fashion trend will never catch on in Oklahoma.

Hey Mike, you’re a pro athlete. You don’t need to attention-whoar like that. You look ridiculous.

Lol. He should wear that hat before every game for the rest of this series. It has to be a good luck charm. Memphis is up 2-1 now.

I love it! Where can I get one of those hats. I’m not being sarcastic either. Very interesting and that’s what I always love is anything interesting and different.
