Finally the NBA playoff match ups are set

It came down to overtime in Memphis, and it good a game winning dunk from your future MVP Kevin Durant, but finally the playoff match ups are set in the NBA playoffs.

This is going to be fun.

Here they are (when we have the schedules for the series we will pass those along):

1. Indiana Pacers vs. 8. Atlanta Hawks
2. Miami Heat vs. 7. Charlotte Bobcats
3. Toronto Raptors vs. 6. Brooklyn Nets
4. Chicago Bulls vs. 5. Washington Wizards

The Nets lost two games in two nights and suddenly end up with the Raptors instead of the Bulls. Decide for yourself if that’s coincidence.

1. San Antonio Spurs vs. 8. Dallas Mavericks
2. Oklahoma City Thunder vs. 7. Memphis Grizzlies
3. Los Angeles Clippers vs. 6. Golden State Warriors
4. Houston Rockets vs. 5. Portland Trail Blazers

Oklahoma City cannot be happy to see Memphis in the first round. Sure the Thunder likely win that series, but they are going to play five or more very physical games to do it. They will get banged up then likely see the Clippers.

Great game between Dallas and Memphis. Too bad they’re both getting bounced in the 1st round.

    • lj312chicago - Apr 17, 2014 at 12:46 AM

Nets take out the Heat in the 2nd round 😦

    • money2long - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:07 AM

Not really too bad. I won’t miss either team.

  2. antistratfordian - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:10 PM

The Thunder were fighting like the dickens to secure their #2 seed. I think the Grizzlies are going to be a tougher matchup than the Warriors in the playoffs though, so they’re not getting much of a reward for that.

    Raps in 4

    • cantonb0und13 - Apr 17, 2014 at 12:04 AM

      Raps in 7.

      • cantonbound13 - Apr 17, 2014 at 11:48 AM

Ok Princess Leaha. Your obsession with me is creepy. He’s a clip of your hero, enjoy. I sure did.

    • sire2334 - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:35 AM

Yeah….the Nets are in trouble. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn’t been watching the Raptors. Which I’m assuming is most people. But as a Wizards fan I would’ve rather faced the Bulls or the Pacers. The Bulls are tough but the Raps are definitely for real.

  4. jbones77 - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:21 PM

Awful foul call at the end of overtime on Dallas.

    • retxedfred - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:24 PM

      Which one?

    • retxedfred - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:27 PM

Well there was only one crucial foul called there, where Conley shot the game winning free throws. I’m more bummed on the out of bounds call on Devin Harris. He didn’t step outside and the ball hit the ref, who is part of the playing court.

    • sire2334 - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:37 AM

I’m assuming the one where Ellis slapped Conley in the face while driving to the hoop…

  5. Gordon - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:27 PM

Smart move by the Nets. The Bulls would whoop them like last year. The Bulls can’t beat the Heat, but they can beat everyone else in the Eastern Conference.

    • davidly - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:51 PM

Is that why the Bulls laid it all out tonight, and into overtime? Was opening against Brooklyn so preferable that they were willing to go to Miami in the second?

      • madnova - Apr 17, 2014 at 12:37 AM

Thibs’ team lays it all out every game, regardless of the opponent or situation.

      • money2long - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:10 AM

If the nets win, you think drake will bandwagon Brooklyn ?

      • spthegr8 - Apr 17, 2014 at 2:10 AM

Hell yeah.!! Drake is a front runner!! They switches side’s all the time!!

    • john242322 - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:40 AM

LOL Bulls will not beat the Pacers either. They may take the Pacers to 6 or 7 games, but Pacers just flat out have more talent than the Bulls. Pacers have too good of D to get beat in a 7 game series by the Bulls

    • sire2334 - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:42 AM

The Bulls may not make it past the first round. You guys are just being fed by sportscenter and not paying attention to matchups. The Wizards are a horrible matchup for the Bulls. They’re bigger and faster. I’m not saying they will move on, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. Same for the Raps another solid team everyone is sleeping on.

  6. ajdurk - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:39 PM

Nets are going all the way! BROOOOOOOOKLY!!!!!

  7. ajdurk - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:40 PM

  8. theoldgreybeard - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:50 PM

you BLO Brooklyn!!! Why is the wind suddenly going south? Cuz Brooklyn SUCKS!!!! COWARDS! This is an affront to the entire NBA! A team deliberately tanks in the last five games to a playoff position? What about the fans who paid good money to see you try to win? This team should be sanctioned, and the NBA needs to institute rules regarding who can “rest” and who must play. WE WILL CRUSH YOUR SPINES, YOU GUTLESS SOBs

  9. phillysports1 - Apr 16, 2014 at 11:59 PM

Jay Z vs Drake ? Lol

    • money2long - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:11 AM

If the nets win, you think drake will bandwagon Brooklyn ?

I have no idea why this comment shot up there

    • spthegr8 - Apr 17, 2014 at 2:19 AM

If the Raptors lose Drake will be “Over” losing. Then he’ll be ” On one & that will put him on his “Worst Behavior”!!!

      • money2long - Apr 17, 2014 at 2:35 AM

        I see what you did.

  10. phillysports1 - Apr 17, 2014 at 12:01 AM

Hands down clippers and warriors playoff series to watch !

  11. cantonb0und13 - Apr 17, 2014 at 12:02 AM

    Where’s Knicks? Typo?

    • money2long - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:12 AM

Only one team wins every year. Jabbin at the Knicks for missing the playoffs seems pretty dumb. Not everyone in the playoffs will win anyway. Lol

      • RavenzGunnerz - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:58 AM

That’s right. Plus the knicks improve their draft pick…. Oh, wait…

Smh, masai ujiri is a mad scientist.

  12. jerdogthompson - Apr 17, 2014 at 12:07 AM

Please oh please Memphis take OKC the distance and beat the living crap out of them.

    -Doc rivers.

  13. Big Ant TV - Apr 17, 2014 at 12:35 AM

is it me or all the west playoff games lookin like they can go 5 games

  14. rymurphy617 - Apr 17, 2014 at 12:44 AM

Memphis is scary right now. Doubt they can finish off okc but if by chance they do the clippers are doomed. Memphis has their # in the playoffs.

Looking forward to possible rockets spurs in round two.

Possibly nets heat and bulls Indy will be fun in the east if the nets can take down Toronto which is a coin flip.

    • paleihe - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:46 AM

In the past two years, the Clips and Gizz have played twice in the playoffs.

      They’re 1 and 1.

      That’s not having “their #”.

      • RavenzGunnerz - Apr 17, 2014 at 2:00 AM

I keep saying that but people keep spreading the same narrative. These series have been hard fought but neither team has the upper hand on the other.

  15. money2long - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:05 AM

The lottery bound sixers started and finished the season beating the defending champs …

  16. norvturnersneck - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:08 AM

    Where are the Lakers?

    • money2long - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:14 AM

      Los Angeles …stupid guy

  17. 00maltliquor - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:32 AM

Man, why the ‘Cats gotta play the Heats for in the 1st! Bummer, I wanted to see them at least get to the 2nd round.

    • money2long - Apr 17, 2014 at 2:37 AM

      Hey. You never know.

      • pfic15 - Apr 17, 2014 at 8:42 AM

        Lol. Yes. You do.

  18. 00maltliquor - Apr 17, 2014 at 1:37 AM

Still pumped for the playoffs even though my boys are gonna be watching it from home like the rest of us. At least we get a lottery pick as a consolation prize. If we don’t get a top 4 pick it may not be as luxurious though.

That LAC/GSW game, as well as the HOU/POR game is gonna be fire. The East, as week as it is, may even pull off some surprising entertainment. Raps/Nets and Bulls/Bullets should be entertaining, and who knows, maybe the Bobcats can put in some work on the Heats.

    • sire2334 - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:44 AM

      Bullets? Love it!

    • john242322 - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:45 AM

weak* not sure what league you’re watching where the Bulls can play the Bullets

  19. RavenzGunnerz - Apr 17, 2014 at 2:03 AM

Hahaha, the nets tanked to 6th.

  20. lakerade - Apr 17, 2014 at 2:43 AM

Stoked for these matchups, near perfect given realistic possibilities. Only the Pacers seem to have a pass, the others feature teams w fight on both sides. Personal favorite was GSW-LAC before Bogette (James Worthy’s pronunciation) went down, now I’m looking forward to TOR-BKN most to see if whichever team wins will be gaining much needed momentum for the second round or simply just outlasting the other.

  21. rastaraider - Apr 17, 2014 at 8:50 AM

Already counting the warriors out ha
I can’t wait for the clippers to go down

    • 00maltliquor - Apr 17, 2014 at 10:23 AM

Down to what, the 2nd round?

  22. void96eater - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:18 AM

I don’t know why the Heat tried so hard to get the 1 seed so late in the season. The 2 seed is much better for them anyway.

    • borderline1988 - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:44 AM

Ultimately, it would never have mattered, unless they prefer to play Chicago/Nets over Toronto in the 2nd round.

As a Toronto fan, screw NJ. They tanked purposefully so they could avoid Chicago and then the Heat. I hope we sweep them and win every game by 20 points.

      • redbaronx - Apr 17, 2014 at 11:20 AM

@borderline1988 – The Nets didn’t tank to play Chicago. You and your friend Kurt that wrote this article seem to forget how close the seeds 5-8 have been. Washington had to win FOUR IN A ROW to overtake NJ and get the 5 seed.

So this whole idea of NJ tanking purposefully to back out of the 5 seed is really ridiculous! You really think Paul Pierce and Garnett give a crap about what happened in last years NJ / Chicago series? Get real!

    • john242322 - Apr 17, 2014 at 9:46 AM

Regardless of the seeding it will still wind up Heat v. Pacers in ECF

  23. redbaronx - Apr 17, 2014 at 11:16 AM

Kurt – Insinuating that the Nets lost two just to avoid the Bulls is absurd. Remember that seeding also depends on other teams. The Wizards also WON FOUR IN A ROW to get into the 5 seed and overtake the Nets in the standings….

  24. mrbiz8505 - Apr 17, 2014 at 11:22 AM

    Playoffs……where physical play isn’t allowed.

  25. ranfan12 - Apr 17, 2014 at 3:51 PM

Why did the bobcats have to go against the heat first lol 😦
