League makes it official, DeMarcus Cousins suspended for Kings’ final game

DeMarcus Cousins will be starting his offseason early.

As PBT told you, Cousins picked up a technical Sunday in a game against Minnesota, Cousins’ 16th of the season. That’s the magic number — get to 16 and you get suspended for a game.

Monday the league upheld Cousins’ suspension and he will sit out the Kings’ season finale Sunday against the Suns. That could matter because if the Suns beat Grizzlies on Monday the Suns could still make the playoffs with a win Wednesday night over the Kings (and a Mavericks win over the Grizzlies that same night).

On the whole Cousins has done better this season at not losing his temper and keeping his composure when players or officials get under his skin, but it’s still safe to call that a work in progress.

You can see the last technical Cousins’ got at the 1:24 mark of the video below.

Can’t wait til next season. Sacramento Kings forever. Cousins has played really well this year and played totally out of his mind the past month or so. Can’t wait to see him continue to develop and I’d wager most of my salary that he’ll never again pick up 16 technicals in a season.

Wishful thinking! If he does tho… took him long enough, after 4 immature seasons!

Your point is fair. I’m obviously a little biased because I’m a Kings’ fan, but even if it took him 4 years to get it, I’m so excited that he HAS gotten it!

And keep in mind, the guy is only 23. He has another 7 years of getting better and his style of “below the rim” domination allows him to have a long career.

He has put up some monster numbers to end the season. And yes, he has incredible potential to be the top center in the NBA, make the all-star team, etc. I just don’t know about betting your salary? I think all it would take to set him back is a gangster look from Mike Dunleavy. :-)

Wont be long before Demarcus passes Rasheed for technicals. If anyone can do it, it’s him
