Austin Rivers, Nick Collison ejected for unimpressive shoving match (VIDEO)

Apr 14, 2014, 11:05 PM EDT

I don’t think this deserved a double ejection, maybe not even a double technical. The referees didn’t see it that way — New Orleans’ Austin Rivers and Oklahoma City’s Nick Collison were ejected for the above incident.

With a little more than 8 minutes left in the second quarter Collison ran down court and set a screen on Rivers (one that went unused) and Rivers took exception to it for some reason and shoved Collison. He took exception to a good pick, I guess.

Then as they came down the court Rivers jumped on Collison and started shoving him. They were quickly separated. Nothing much happened.

But because it went from one end of the court to the other, because it carried over, the referees went for the ejection.

Let’s hope when the playoffs get rolling and we see more emotions from players the referees let them show that a little and don’t over-react.

We will see if the league overturns these. If they don’t there will be fines and/or suspensions to come.

In a related story: Nick Collison brushed his teeth too hard, received 9 stitches in the locker room and is probable to return in the 4th.

Please rewatch the video. Collison sets a moving screen(feet never stop moving) with a push in the back so rivers pushes him back. Collison then gets his weak ish eaten by withey and gives an elbow or push to rivers in the back while running back up court. That may be why rivers went at him. Not because he took exception to a good pick (that really wasn’t) but because someone just pushed him in the back twice.

They show more heart than the New York Knicks. What a pathetic franchise and it starts from the top with James Dolan.

You have a very crappy gimmick and should feel ashamed with every breath.

Collison went at him twice. And that was a terrible screen. Not a good one. Rivers just reacted

I don’t think anyone is intimidated by Rivers

Hahahaha look at Austin Rivers pretending he wanted that fight. Collison isn’t the toughest guy, but watch Rivers put all his “power” into pushing him twice and barely even moving him. Just stop it.

I laughed too….That’s how the spoiled “Momma’s – Boys” from the suburbs show they are really – really mad…..bye-golly!

Did you see Rivers take a quick look over his shoulder, to see if his dad was gonna save him…..hahahaha

He’d crush you like an ant.
