Serge Ibaka T’d up for getting in ref’s face after foul call against Pacers (VIDEO)

Apr 13, 2014, 3:30 PM EDT

This probably should have been an ejection.

In the third quarter of Sunday’s contest between the Thunder and the Pacers, Serge Ibaka committed an obvious foul by shoving C.J. Watson out of bounds. The referee whistled him for it, and for some reason, Ibaka appeared to snap.

He walked quickly toward the official and yelled something right in his face, as Kevin Durant tried to hold him back before yanking him away.

The official did a nice job of keeping his composure while giving Ibaka just a single technical foul for his action, but it was a pretty aggressive display. If Ibaka should face a fine from the league office in the coming days, it wouldn’t at all be a surprise.

    Watson playing well. Hill needs to sit. And this just confirms Serge is a prick.

      I know what you mean, but it ain’t gonna happen. Hill will start for his D. CJ ‘ll get time, though, as long as he drops ‘em like today.

        You’re kidding right? Hill can’t guard anyone. Teams have been exploiting him with high pick and rolls since the Suns showed how easy it can be done when they beat the Pacers in Phoenix.

        @thebighurt:
        I think you’re overstating your case; especially the “can’t guard anyone” bit. Re. the high pick situation: compare him to others in the league and he is still above average, and when you consider the nature of the Pacers’ defense, a team concept that prefers chasing players around picks instead of going under, he is doing his job effectively.

        Granted, the bulk of the credit should go to George and Hibbert, but Hill is an strong link in the chain for which they do not have a better option short-term.

      I agree. Watson over Hill all day.

    The announcers said he was T’ed up for the “brisk pace at which he walked towards the ref.” ha.
