Watch Lakers 51 points on Knicks in third quarter (VIDEO)

Mar 26, 2014, 2:00 PM EDT

Knicks fans, you should not watch this.

That is all the Lakers’ buckets from their third quarter, 51-point explosion on the Knicks Tuesday night. What the Lakers did to blow out the Knicks was hustle and share the ball. Nothing more. This is the NBA, give guys an open shot and they will knock it down, which is what the Lakers did.

The Knicks did a poor job protecting the rim — Chris Kaman and Jordan Hill shouldn’t score that easy inside — and with one extra pass there was no Knicks perimeter rotation and Lakers’ shooters got to set their feet and not be rushed. That ends poorly for the Knicks.

As will their playoff dreams. The Lakers’ threes may have been the dagger to those dreams.

When you consider this is arguably the worst Eastern Conference ever, the fact the Knicks won’t even make the playoffs makes their season an absolutely massive failure.

This is the Lakers complete 2014 highlight video.

The quarter consisted mostly of Melo, Amare, Hardaway, Jr Smith, Felton. I cannot think of a worse 5 players defensively then this group. I knew JR wasn’t a great defender but he has been putrid this season. Hardaway is just as bad as Steve Novak. Amare doesn’t know hot to spell defense, Felton is fat and Melo is Melo.

I love how Phil said he thinks Melo can, “take his game to another level.”

Yeah, all Melo has to do is learn to occasionally pass to an open man and to stick his arms up and wave his hands around on defense…

….that’s a whole ‘nother level right there!!!

Melo without a doubt could take his game to the next level. Instead of taking those 5-6 bad shots that he does every game and gets his teammates involved will change him as a player. Pass the ball on a double team instead of becoming a black hole when you are down and losing.

However I think Phil wiould let Melo walk but I bet that was apart of the negotiation with Dolan. He had to try a 100% to sign him. I just dont see Phil being a fan of melo

I believe he was replying to the 2015 person lol

Yeah, that’s about as “pure” of an “All Offense, No Defense” lineup as I can think of for any given team.

Carmelo Anthony is by far the best defender in that group. Think about that.

        That is quite the riddle

    Canton bounds team…

  5. stekaz - Mar 26, 2014 at 4:55 PM

As a Knicks fan, I’m confused. What is this hustle and share the ball you speak of? Is it part of basketball?

  6. dablakdrphil - Mar 26, 2014 at 6:49 PM

This had blow out written all over it from the Knicks point of view, on paper they have a much better team than the Lakers and got outplayed badly with terrible defense

And this is what Phil Jackson has to fix

    GOOD LUCK!!!

Give the lakers the championship trophy now…

  8. sportsfan18 - Mar 26, 2014 at 8:43 PM

Cruzan? Oh Cruzan where are you?

I’ve said it before… should wins against the Knicks count as wins for those teams who beat them this yr?

And it was the Fakers that did this to them… the 24 win Fakers in Fakeland, California.

The fact that this Lake team can destroy this Knicks team shows how broken the Knicks are in terms of chemistrey and work ethic. Defense is effort, and the fact that Jodie Meeks, Swaggy P, and Bazemore were able to combine for almost 60 points shows how pathetic the Knicks are. Its almost hard to believe that a team with so much raw talent can fail so horribly.
