Ray Allen has flu, doubtful to play vs. Pacers Wednesday

Mar 26, 2014, 5:59 PM EDT

I don’t need to remind you that Ray Allen makes big plays for the Heat in big games.

But he will not be taking part in Wednesday’s big showdown with Indiana.

This isn’t the team covering for something with the stomach virus excuse either – there may be no player in the league more meticulous in taking care of his body, of watching his diet, than Ray Allen.

Announcement: Pro Basketball Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $100,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Wednesday night’s games. It’s $25 to join and first prize is $15,000. Starts at 7pm ET on WednesdayHere’s the FanDuel link.

Dwyane Wade will start at the two for the Heat, Allen would have come off the bench (he averages 11.9 points a game). Expect Toney Douglas to get the bulk of Allen’s minutes.

    So much for no excuses.

I think the only entity that is more fired up for this game than the Pacers is ESPN. This game is meaningless. It just as probable that getting the second seed is as desireable as the first seed (first seed gets Bklyn/Chi winner in rd 2, second seed gets Wash/Tor winner).

So if/when Pacers win tonight, you think they’re going to drop confetti? Streamers? Both? I can tell you this. If the Heat win, their behavior will be like Barry Sanders after scoring a TD. Pacers? Lots of yelling and screaming. Lots of chest pounding.

We all know you’ll watch every second & be upset after they lose. You’re not fooling anyone.

Of course I watched every second. VERY encouraged. 4 out of 7 is the name of the game. Don’t think Indy can do it.

Unless of course they give out bigger “Beat The Heat” cards.

Did you catch that awesome Knicks game last night?

      • eventhorizon04 - Mar 26, 2014 at 10:53 PM

Considering that he declared that the Knicks are the “hottest team in the NBA,” I’m guessing he either forgot that the San Antonio Spurs are an NBA team, or he doesn’t understand that the Knicks beating 6 lottery teams and then losing to two lottery teams in a row – Lakers and Cavaliers – isn’t especially impressive.

The Knicks suck, and they have no roster flexibility to improve next year, so they’ll suck next year. It doesn’t matter how many times Phil Jackson pretends to care about the Knicks before leave games early to walk his dog – that’s the reality.

it was fun when LBJ and Wade made fun of Dirk for being sick……then getting to watch Dirk beat them in the finals…..

Pacer fans you’re kidding yourselves if you think you’ll win a championship with George Hill as your starting PG. He looks and plays like a skittish puppy.

Should’ve played. He could’ve easily hit 6 first half 3 pointers
