LeBron James rejects Spencer Hawes dunk attempt (VIDEO)

Mar 19, 2014, 8:45 AM EDT

That needed a Mutombo finger wag.

Much to their credit the Cleveland Cavaliers hung around with the Miami Heat all game — and doing it without Kyrie Irving or Luol Deng. The difference in the game was LeBron James — 25 points in the first quarter and 43 for the game.

Plus a couple key blocks. Like this rejection at the rim of poor Spencer Hawes. Ouch.

I liked the Splitter block from last year’s Finals more….but still, this dude is blocking centers coming in for dunks. That has to take some major strength!

It takes. great athletic ability, major strength, and one well placed left forearm shove into the offensive players chest to make that play. Too bad the official swallowed his whistle. However, LeBron did make a great block on Varejao earlier in the game when it looked like he had an easy dunk. They should show that play.

yea yea yea….and tell us how his 25 points in the first quarter were only due to the laces he had in his sneakers at the time…stop nit-picking

Anybody else want to comment about how the Sixers moves at the deadline were horrible? Evan and Spencer are not good players, and somehow the rest of the league (and the larger basketball fandom it seems like) got duped into believing these are NBA starters. Had the Sixers kept them, does anyone really think they wouldn’t still be headed for the worst record?

Not nit-picking at all. If the media is going to overhype one play—at least make it a play where the refs didn’t swallow their whistle and let a superstar get away with a foul. If were going to ignore the obvious then let’s hype all of Kevin Ganett’s blocks on dead ball shots that he sends into the 5th row.
