Okay basketball gods, you have exacted your pound of flesh from the Lakers this season. They already are eliminated from the playoffs, they have lost more man games to injury than any other team. They have been embarrassed. You can back off now.

Except they are not.

Jordan Farmar will be out for at least two weeks with a groin strain suffered in a Monday practice, the team announced.

Announcement: Pro Basketball Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $60,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Tuesday night’s games. It’s $25 to join and first prize is $8,500. Starts at 7pm ET on Tuesday. Here’s the FanDuel link.

That will leave Kendall Marshall getting the bulk of the minutes at the point (Steve Nash says he wants to try and play again this season but don’t expect it). Jodie Meeks will play both the one and the two and get a lot of ball handling responsibilities, and MarShon Brooks will get the chance to create as well.

All of this could only help the Lakers’ lottery odds, which is what they should focus on.

Far from being a sign the Lakers are being punished, the Lakers being undermanned by injury at this point of the year is very helpful. The Lakers are going to need assets to help recruit star players to come to LA, and getting an elite rookie in the 2014 draft would be more helpful than a few meaningless wins at the end of the year that push them towards the bottom of the lottery and hurt their chances of getting an elite rookie.

Jordan has been great when healthy this season. Unfortunate for him he comes back for a little then gets injured again. Definitely a nightmare season for the whole team.

Backs the Vikings and born last year, apparently. I’d feel sorry for you but I have no emotions for turds.

This is just too much. What’s up Gary Vitti?

Do they have enough healthy players for a starting 5?

I’d be surprise if they have enough to still practice lol

Evidently you had enough emotion to form a response and post it…

I’ve told you before to remove professor from your name.

Or are you just trying to be ironic?

Is there an “UGH” in the headline of this article?

The “basketball gods” have nothing against the Lakers.

    Quite simply,

    Jim Buss is cursed…

It only gets worse from here….
