Paul Pierce mocks the unnecessary screaming of Wizards’ Trevor Booker (VIDEO)

There are plenty of players who make exaggerated vocal noise during the course of an NBA game, with Carlos Boozer of the Bulls perhaps heading up that very long list.

While it’s accepted to a certain extent, it’s also nice to see a veteran of the game point out just how ridiculous it is.

During the first quarter of the Nets matchup with the Wizards on Saturday, Trevor Booker let out a scream after blocking one of Paul Pierce‘s shots. Pierce scored on Booker the next time he had the chance, and screamed loudly right back at his opponent in retaliation.

Magic Johnson used to be good at that. Got a lot of “phantom”foul calls.

In news that matters, WASH won the game.

All basketball players do this, from the guys at the street court to the pros. It’s not something people do to draw calls in my experience as there are no refs at a rec center or a blacktop, I think some people just do it instinctively and to call it verbal flopping is wrong.

I suddenly remembered Larry Johnson in a UNLV game.

This is an issue in the NBA, but also in the NFL as well. Players yelling and prancing around when they make a tackle on a 2 yard run on 1st down. Thank ESPN for that.

The only sports of the major 4 that don’t have this issue are MLB and NHL. Both have established culture that keeps the unnecessary show boating BS to a bare minimum.

I remember pierce having to be carried off the court in the finals only to return minutes later as if nothing happened. .he has no room to talk

Since when isn’t winning enough…..why do you have to disrespect the other team?
