Nuggets players model 1993-94 throwback jerseys that team will wear March 17 (PHOTOS)

Plenty of teams break out throwback jerseys from time to time, but the one that the Nuggets chose to wear for a home game on March 17 bears some significance that goes beyond just fashion.

In the playoffs that year, Denver became the first eight seed to knock off a one seed. The Seattle Supersonics club won 63 games during the regular season and featured Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp, but fell to the Nuggets in five games.

With the first round of the playoffs now the same as the rest of them — requiring four games to advance instead of three — it’s going to take a unique set of circumstances for that feat to be repeated. But if nothing else, it may remind the current players that despite the down season, it’s possible to rise up as an underdog when other teams least expect it.

My favorite Nuggets uni. Shout out to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf!

Respect. One of my favorite players growing up, very underrated.

Most of the throwbacks I’ve seen are nothing special, but these particular Nuggets jerseys bring back a lot of great memories from the 90s. Great choice.

Another thought, would anyone be shocked if they found Wilson Chandler at a free form poetry jam? It wouldn’t surprise me.

Those were great uniforms, they also wore them in the late 90s, when they had some fun players like LaPhonso Ellis, Antonio McDyess, Nick Van Exel, current Warriors head coach Mark Jackson and even Ervin Not Magic Johnson.

Ummm…not to relive the terrible series that it was but my Bulls were a 1 seed and lost to an 8 seed in Philadelphia just a few years ago. Granted, Rose tore his ACL and Noah also got knocked out of the series, our two best players. But still, it goes down in the books as a #1 seed losing to a #8 seed in a 7 game series.

It’s ok, Seattle got its revenge on Denver last month! Made all this pain go away.

This years team is the result of an owner’s son being put in charge. Gone are both the Executive of the Year AND the Coach of the Year–too expensive. The roster has ONE decent player, Ty Lawson, and not a one of the rest will ever be accused of looking like all stars.

It’s an insult to Nuggets teams of the past to have this bunch of losers wearing that uniform. Boycott the Nuggets!
