LeBron James buys Heat teammates WWE-style championship belts

Feb 26, 2014, 6:13 PM EDT

Always wanted to be the WWE Heavyweight World Champion so today I surprised my teammates with their own for their collection. And by the way it’s a Great time to be a @WWE fan with the launch of#WWENetwork #LoveMyTeammates#WWEStandOutAsAKid #StriveForGreatness

LeBron James is a big wrestling fan. Not Greco-Roman but the off-the-top-turnbuckle WWE style. And if you’re a WWE fan you want a championship belt — and if you’re LeBron you have the money to buy all your teammates personalized WWE title belts. Because of course you do. Ray Allen‘s is personalized to Jesus Shuttlesworth. I wouldn’t be shocked if the Birdman Chris Andersen had one at home already.

It should be noted Rasheed Wallace did this with the Pistons back in the day.

LeBron’s fascination started back during football season Eagles running back LeSean McCoy did a post-game interview wearing a WWE-style championship belt and tweeted out that he wanted one.

Of course, because he’s LeBron James he got a response from The Rock.

And all that led to this, LeBron buying belts for his teammates.

Hat tip to Lang Whittaker at’s All Ball blog.

“That’s the only ring he is going to wear”

    RIP those jokes 😉

I hear those things weigh a ton.

My boys getting ready 4 another run at it…

  5. pantsfreezone - Feb 26, 2014 at 6:29 PM

If I was a good vet with enough banked money, I would sign in Miami just for the swag.

LeBron should film a vignette of him walking up to a fruit stand on the streets of Little Havana and stealing an apple while flicking a toothpick in the vendor’s eye…

  7. seattlesuperchronic - Feb 26, 2014 at 6:42 PM

    That’s dope.

  8. Nofoolnodrool - Feb 26, 2014 at 6:54 PM

    A game for dopes

The irony of this is that in spite of being choreographed, WWE is only a slightly less authentically competitive sporting league than the NBA.

    • money2long - Feb 26, 2014 at 9:14 PM

are they allowed to use steroids in that sport ?
no motives with that question, im really asking.

      • phaden27 - Feb 26, 2014 at 9:47 PM

Officially no, but I’m willing to bet that their screening is a joke.

      • spthegr8 - Feb 27, 2014 at 9:47 AM

They have testing under there new “Wellness policy” & guys have been suspended for using. So, it really just depends on who you are & how valuable you are to them because I don’t care what anybody says. John Cena is on the sauce. I workout 4-5 times a week & I’m a Personal Trainer but you don’t get as big as he is, without taking something! I’ve got some friends not quite as big as him but close and they are on the sauce. That’s the ONLY way you can get that big!!

haha, thanks for the insight guys.

The league must have magnets in the balls then, how else could they have fixed game six in last years finals. On a serious note, the leagues credibility has had low points but the games are not pre decided at all.

Do they give them up when they lose?

  11. nykfanwakemeupin2015 - Feb 26, 2014 at 7:34 PM

Every fantasy league should come with a pot and a belt like those

  12. jaydm84 - Feb 26, 2014 at 7:35 PM

Solid move going with Jesus Shuttlesworth.

  13. 1972wasalongtimeago - Feb 26, 2014 at 7:35 PM

LeBron can take a dump on the floor and I’d say it’s brilliant. But as good as the belts are, the Green Jackets Wade bought the team was cooler.

  14. nykfanwakemeupin2015 - Feb 26, 2014 at 7:37 PM

Say what you want about them (like half them look pretty jason collins in that picture) but they sure do enjoy playing together…..

    • money2long - Feb 26, 2014 at 9:20 PM

jason collins…they enjoy “playing together” ?
      coincidence ?

  15. thevza - Feb 26, 2014 at 7:56 PM

Rasheed Wallace did the exact same thing for his teammates back in 2004 when the Detroit Pistons won the championship. #unoriginal

    • antistratfordian - Feb 26, 2014 at 8:55 PM

Sheed’s was a boxing belt. Wrong sport.

      • money2long - Feb 26, 2014 at 9:24 PM

        picky, are (W)WE ?

    • asimonetti88 - Feb 26, 2014 at 11:26 PM

Aaron Rodgers had a WWE belt when they won the Super Bowl. Don’t think he got one for everyone though. With 53 players, that’d be a bit expensive.

  16. adoombray - Feb 26, 2014 at 8:03 PM

If he is hashtagging the WWE site, he’s plugging it. That was a sponsored post by his people. Also, Sheed did it first, and there was no mention of that, which makes me wonder if this post itself wasnt sponsored ;p

  17. cantonbound13 - Feb 26, 2014 at 8:58 PM

Pistons already did that. Typical LeBron being a follower.

    • 1972wasalongtimeago - Feb 26, 2014 at 9:45 PM

It’s hard coming up with new stuff after every championship

    • gofinsgoheatfloria - Feb 27, 2014 at 9:42 AM

Maybe Melo would come up with something more original. When do you predict we’ll find out?

      • zeedoubleyou - Feb 27, 2014 at 10:48 AM

Late in his career when he signs with LeBron’s team for the minimum

  18. money2long - Feb 26, 2014 at 9:07 PM

    clap for the heavyweight champ…me
    but i couldn’t do it all alone…we

  19. hojo20 - Feb 26, 2014 at 9:40 PM

It’s hard to hate the Heat/LBJ seeing them do stuff like this.
