Rising Stars Challenge MVP trophy breaks while being presented to Andre Drummond (VIDEO)

Feb 14, 2014, 11:57 PM EST

NEW ORLEANS – Andre Drummond was named the MVP of Friday night’s Rising Stars Challenge, but the trophy for the accomplishment was almost broken beyond repair before it ever made it into his hands.

The presenter fumbled the trophy, and the glass star that sits loosely on its base came crashing down to the floor, but fortunately didn’t seem to suffer any real damage.

“It happened last year too,” Drummond said, when asked what he was thinking when he saw the trophy drop. “So I wasn’t expecting anything less. Usually a slip-up happens every year with the trophy, so I wasn’t too shocked about that.”

Drummond had a simple suggestion to help prevent any similar mishaps from occurring in the future.

“I think they should change it up so it’s not in two pieces,” he said.

I mean that’s kind of silly the trophy fell off on national television, the NBA shoulda done a better job checking on a trophy..I mean CMon man. And is it just me or Timmy Hardway acted pretty immature yelling “ESPN not top 20″ the kid should get fined.

It’s just you. Timmy Jr. came through with the clutch punchline, and he took like mic like a boss.
