Watch Charles Barkley’s ridiculous attempt at pronouncing Jonas Valanciunas (VIDEO)

Feb 7, 2014, 10:14 AM EDT

During Thursday night’s draft of the teams for All-Star weekend’s Rising Stars Challenge, Charles Barkley had an unexpectedly tough time pronouncing the name of the Raptors’ Jonas Valanciunas.

That’s way more difficult than simply sounding out the spelling phonetically, and hey, I suppose we could blame the show’s producers for not briefing Barkley in advance.

But Inside the NBA has always been about having fun in a more relaxed atmosphere, and it’s hard to argue that this gaffe by Barkley didn’t infuse a little extra something into this particular episode.

I died laffing when I heard that attempt last night! He was smart, I believe later on, for simply calling giannis antetokounmpo ‘the kid from Milwaukee’ .

It’s pathetic that some find it humorous that a person can’t make the effort to pronounce a name correctly. You embarrass the person and yourself with your lack of respect and ignorance.

Haha! Imagine him trying to pronounce Giannis Antetokounmpo

I’m sure the show’s producers did prep him before going on air, but I suspect he told them (like he told that cop who pulled him over a yr or so ago) to hurry because he was meeting up with a girl to give him a BJ before he went on air…

Me thinks Charles wasn’t thinking with his big head and so he didn’t know the name while he was on air… but little Charlie was satisfied…

Barkley is just another example of what a US college degree gets you. Ritin’ Reedin’ Ritmatic.
