Rondo uses signature ball fake to lose defender before scoring (VIDEO)

Feb 3, 2014, 9:31 AM EDT

Rajon Rondo looked like his old self in Sunday’s lone NBA contest, finishing with 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting to go along with 10 assists and six rebounds to get his first win since returning to Boston’s lineup this season.

This play, where Rondo used his signature behind-the-back ball fake to lose a defender before getting the floater to go was definitely nice to see.

Correction – Rondo uses one of Pete Maravich’s numerous signature ball fakes, with very little flair and around the back extension, to “lose” a defender who had nearly fallen down from a well placed screen, faking out actually no one, and scoring on a well contested fadeaway floater making Pete Maravich’s signature ball fake unnecessary as no one was faked out by said ball fake.

But of course, that headline probably wouldn’t have gotten my click.

How does this have 12 negative votes?

      Spot on eltrilliardo, spot on.

He also had three steals (to go with that 19-10-6) in a very efficient 27 minutes. It looks like he is making ideal progress with his recovery and soon will have his minutes restriction lifted. Some team (Houston?) in need of a point guard to more efficiently orchestrate the offense should make a deal before the deadline with the Celtics to take his salary off Boston’s books.
