Jared Jeffries has his own fishing show on the Outdoor Channel

Jan 31, 2014, 9:11 PM EST

Don’t worry about Jared Jeffries, he has landed on his feet. Or, on a boat.

Jeffries is an 11 year NBA veteran who played in 38 games for the Trail Blazers last season after a career that included stops with the Wizards, Knicks and Rockets. He was a solid enough rotational big man to have lasted that long in the league and earned $40 million in career salary.

But the man loves fishing (and hunting alligators with Brad Miller). Apparently. Based on this trailer for his new Outdoor Channel show, “Modern Fishing.”

Good luck with the show, Jared, we wish you the best. I hear David Stern has some time on his hands now, you should invite him along for a day on the water.

Hat tip to Dan Devine at Ball Don’t Lie for finding this.

Good for him, wish him the best. 40 mil is a lot of money so I’m sure he’ll be set for the rest of his life to enjoy what he wants to do.

He got paid 40 million to be 7ft tall, not a bball player. Such is life.

This makes me excited about the prospect of Jared Allen hosting a hunting show.

I can’t see Jared Allen not having a hunting show when he retires.

    He’s living my dream life.

At first sight, and even the first half minute of the intro, it seemed like a reality TV scheme some executive thought of to make an easy buck. But you can tell by his hooking technique at 0.49 seconds that he has been fishing for a long time and is a true fisherman. You can’t teach someone that, you can only learn that yourself.
