Gregg Popovich and the two-word sideline interview (VIDEO)

Jan 30, 2014, 12:35 PM EDT

In the second half of the third quarter Wednesday night, the Chicago Bulls went on a 14-3 run and started to create a little separation between themselves and the San Antonio Spurs. The Bulls were more aggressive, getting to the line 13 times in the third quarter.

You can imagine how that sat with Gregg Popovich.

Actually, you don’t need to imagine it, above is his ESPN in-game interview after the third quarter.

The Bulls went on to win the game 96-86 and shorthanded San Antonio (no Kawhi Leonard, no Manu Ginobili, no Tiago Splitter, no Danny Green) has lost three in a row.

It was funny the first time, but do we really need what seems like daily recaps of Popp’s hilarious sideline interviews?!

    • asimonetti88 - Jan 30, 2014 at 3:49 PM

      I find them amusing

  2. bubbalynch - Jan 30, 2014 at 1:02 PM

Haha, I love that coach and his form of humor. That’s gonna be me at that age, grumpy old man!

Pop should retire, if isn’t having fun get lost, Spurs will be gone in the second round if they even
get to the second round, imagine if they play a healthy Thunder team.
Just retire Pop if you are you can’t handle a few questions. He should be fined!

Maybe you should retire from posting comments. If you can’t figure out that Pop is just having fun in his own way, by clowning the whole interview process, then maybe you need to get a clue. You sound like a Spurs hater anyways, which is fine, but you obviously have no clue what you’re talking about in regards to Pop. He should be fined? Really? Remove the stick from your rear…

Sorry, I didn’t know Pop’s wife was here, my apologies lady, now get your
white butt in the kitchen, your drunkard husband will be home soon.
I hope you picked up enough booze for him to get drunk and fall asleep, you
probably drink half of the booze anyway.

I love Popp for this. He’s basically saying “Go F yourself David Stern” with all of these dumb mandatory mid-game interviews the coaches must do. It’s so pointless… Even the sideline reporters don’t want to do it…It’s plain dumb

    • fanofevilempire - Jan 30, 2014 at 1:33 PM

Pop likes all the money that he makes, he’s probably a drunkard anyway, come to think about it he looks drunk.

    • adoombray - Jan 30, 2014 at 1:34 PM

You learn literally nothing from those interviews either. “man, you guys are playing a game that isnt over yet” “yeah, we’re trying to win” “back to you, bob”. The only use they have is to give you a moment to get to the kitchen for another drink (…. especially if you’re a Bulls fan this year. ZING)

…or a Lakers fan. Just hoping they give up more layups!

    He’s a racist.

    • fanofevilempire - Jan 30, 2014 at 2:44 PM

he looks like the guy who was busted for kiddie porn.

  6. ProBasketballPundit - Jan 30, 2014 at 3:44 PM

Why do they keep asking Popovich stupid questions? That wasn’t even a freaking question! I love Pop’s reactions because who else is going to expose this god awful “reporting”?

  7. antistratfordian - Jan 30, 2014 at 5:37 PM

I have two words for Popovich: Over Rated

  8. JillinoisRN - Jan 31, 2014 at 1:15 AM

I love Pop… Spurs got whooped, but they’re still my favorite guys on the court :)
