Anthony Davis with a ridiculous putback dunk (VIDEO)

Jan 8, 2014, 4:56 PM EDT

One last highlight from Tuesday night’s action before we get into Wednesday’s game — Anthony Davis can throw it down.

This Davis putback dunk is just impressive (as was LeBron’s alley-oop finish in this game). Davis finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough against the Heat.

Davis is going to be a lot of fun to watch All-Star weekend in New Orleans — not likely in the main game (yet), but he’s going to be featured a lot that weekend.

Bosh shut Davis down in the 2nd half.

But Davis is a special player. His jumper is surprising me – he kind of reminds me of Wilt Chamberlain shooting it with that lankiness.

backhanded props you always give when dealing with the heat. im noticing.

      • antistratfordian - Jan 9, 2014 at 4:15 AM

What’s backhanded about the props I gave? I’m a big Davis fan. There should be nothing backhanded in there.

was mentioning “he was shut down by bosh” necessary

      • antistratfordian - Jan 9, 2014 at 12:58 PM

Well a backhanded compliment is an insult disguised as a compliment, right? I was not trying to disguise anything by saying that Davis was shut down in the 2nd half – that’s about as straightforward as you can get. So I really thought you were going to take exception with me saying his jumper looks like Wilt Chamberlain’s.

But yes, I think Bosh’s defensive effort deserved a mentioned – it was a major plot twist.

Don’t worry, AD23 is still the bee’s knees.

you couldnt just purely say davis dunked on lebron? you had to tell ppl he got shut down before you felt comfortable saying it was a nice putback on lebron ?

i’ll point out the next time you give another backhanded compliment so you know exactly what i mean. have a nice day.

      • antistratfordian - Jan 9, 2014 at 8:00 PM

you don’t really know the definition of “backhanded compliment” that’s why you thought there was one in my post.

      • money2long - Jan 9, 2014 at 8:20 PM

yes, backhanded. great play but he still got shutdown. that’s backhanded. quiet your face.

      • antistratfordian - Jan 9, 2014 at 8:24 PM

no, that’s not what a backhanded compliment is.

that he got shut down in the 2nd half is just an observation. i didn’t even comment about the play at all.

man i dont think ive ever seen anything quite like that. if he can stay healthy, what an amazing player. hes made some big strides and hes such a well rounded player because he was a guard growing up. he knows how to shoot and dribble, knew how to block, and learning more how to guard bigs and defend the paint. he will likely be the face of the nba after lebron/durant

He was two inches off the ground and it was not a windmill…

Spoelstra compared Davis to David Robinson, and I’m not so sure he’s wrong.

Beautiful timing and anticipation by Davis. The guy is a joy to watch, great for the game of basketball. LeBron was going up lazy for that rebound, and was quick to remind Bosh he didn’t box out.
