Kyrie Irving out Saturday, not traveling with Cavaliers

The Cavaliers are 1-0 without Kyrie Irving. Granted, they had to come back from 9 points down in the final minute — which required a lot of help from the Orlando Magic — but they won with Irving on the bench.

Now they are going to go for 2-0.

Irving will be out again Saturday when the Cavaliers travel to take on the Brooklyn Nets, reports the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Irving is not even making the trip with the team. It is unclear if he will play Sunday vs. Orlando yet.

Irving suffered a knee contusion on New Year’s Eve, and despite fears this would be something much worse he is fine and listed as day-to-day. That day is just not Saturday.

The Cavaliers still want to make a run into the playoffs in the East (nobody is out of the running in that conference, got to love the East) and they need wins like the one over Orlando and this one over Brooklyn to really get going that direction. A couple wins without Irving in the lineup would be a boost to those chances.
