PBT Extra: Previewing Thunder vs. Knicks Christmas showdown

Dec 24, 2013, 3:30 PM EDT

This game had a lot more luster when we first saw it the schedule — Carmelo Anthony vs. Kevin Durant, the guys who were 1-2 in the NBA scoring race last season, facing off.

Hopefully Anthony can play (he has a sprained ankle) and we get our shootout, but either way the poor play of the Knicks (9-18) makes what should have been a fun showdown look like a potential rout. Kay Adams and I break it down a little in the latest edition of PBT Extra.

Also, we talk about just what happens to Mike Woodson if the Knicks do get blown out on a national stage like this.

If they get blown out while playing hard, then so be it. They just don’t have the healthy talent right now. But, if they quit, then it’s time for Woodson to go

I wouldn’t call any game that the Knicks were involved in a “showdown”….

some people really get caught up in trying to tell the world how much they feel the knicks suck. relax.

I’m actually a big fan of both teams and I can’t see any possible way the Knicks even come close to winning. Westbrook is gonna torch them and Ibaka should have a field day if Carmelo’s ankle isn’t fully healthy, plus who’s guarding Durant? And the lack of a second scorer/good point guard means it’s gonna be a long day for the Knicks. I’ll be satisfied if the Knicks are competitive and play hard

What a crazy NBA when Clippers/Warriors is the best matchup on Christmas.

Money2small- people feel the need to tell the world the Knicks suck because they are constantly shoved down our throats. I wish the NBA would follow the NFL and flex schedule some nationally televised games, or just show the better teams. The Knicks are obviously a dumpster fire. Nobody wants to see Anthony jack up 30 shots a game and not play any D. And then sit in the post game interview and have no idea why they lost by 20. It’s horrible television.
