Lance Stephenson’s triple-double against Celtics (VIDEO)

Dec 23, 2013, 11:04 AM EDT

We dinged Lance Stephenson in PBT’s nightly grades because he clearly went hunting for the triple double — he shot 6-of-7 down the stretch and was obviously making plays to get to his 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Still, that is his third triple double of the season to lead the NBA.

He was a fantastic playmaker for Indiana on Sunday, finding open guys all over the court — he seems to have a real chemistry developing with Danny Granger. He also was making shots for the first three quarters and looked like the best player on the court (or at least the best one not named Paul George).

Granger being back doesn’t move Stephenson out of the starting lineup — Granger is the sixth man, Indiana needs more games like this one from Stephenson.

this guy is starting to get on my nerve with all the show boats. I’m ok with all the pacers cuz they don’t back down from the Heat. This guy chokes every time vs wade. gets owned every time and thinks he’s an allstar. why don’t you try to bring it next time against Miami for once?

Lance is leading the league in triple-doubles, sir. In my opinion, if “thinking” you are an all-star contributes to that kind of production, do you Lance.

you can do whatever you want to do but show up in big games. get it??? which team should they go thru to get to the finals? he can be a superstar vs any other teams for all I care but at least be decent against the Heat. don’t just get owned every time.

He’s averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting over 50% vs. the Heat this year.

    Nice…how’s he doing in steals?

The Pacers are good. Simply put, they are good. Clearly this team is destined for greatness. Lance Stephenson is one of the largest reasons why this team is on it’s way to the ultimate prize in the NBA come Playoffs. For you guys that hate on Lance keep it up he clearly uses it as motivation. Have fun being a “fan” of the other teams that claim to be playing the same game as the Pacers and I hope that the new year gives you something more tangible to criticize than the transcendent play of a very underpaid budding superstar.

Love Lance’s enthusiasm and especially his play this year. I’m surprised he wasn’t given a technical for his dance after he left 11 of the Celtics sliding and nailing the basket.

I still think Indiana is better than Miami I mean they won by multiple possessions in Indiana where as Miami only beat them by one in Miami and LJ and wade had to have big games to do so with Hibbert in foul trouble now you throw in a sixth man that is a scorer I think it’s gonna be tougher for Miami to overcome this but we will see they play each other 2 more times…
