Quote of the Day: It’s been a while since Kobe Bryant had time off

“I think the last time I had eight months off I was still in the womb.”

Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers, talking about the eight months he was forced out of action due to his ruptured Achilese.

Bryant, as his his nature, had to work hard to get back on the court 240 days after his injury. He said physically he felt fine, there was just a lot of rust to shake off, but he sounded mostly happy to be back at the grind of what he does. Kobe likes to watch film, break things down and find was to improve/beat his opponent. Now he is back at it with the ball in his hands.

And that is good for the league.

It’s been decades since he played defense.

I’m not a Kobe fan actually. I’m of the MJ crowd.

But still you’re wrong. It’s only been a few yrs, not decades. Kobe was a great two way player for most of his career, unlike say Melo who plays no defense at all.

The “Kobe” era has been over for a few years now. At this point he is hurting his team more than helping them.

        It’s almost like he’s rusty! Like he’s missed a lot of games…

Selected 12 years to NBA All-Defensive team. Last was 2011/2012 Season.

Yeah no…those teams are a fraud. Kind of like how Marc Gasol was defensive player of the year and didn’t make 1st team all defense.

It’s been a solid 3 years minimum since Kobe played D REALLY consistently. Last year he was a DH.

I am no fan of on the court Kobe, but off the court Kobe I am a fan of. He really makes some hilarious statements.

    • mytthor - Dec 10, 2013 at 10:10 PM

Seriously this is the silliest comment I’ve seen today. He’s one of the top 2 players of his generation, probably top 10-15 players ever, and you don’t like his game. He’s a total prima-donna, alleged rapist, admitted adulterer, and you like him off the court.

He was maybe not as good a lockdown defender as MJ was, but still he was very tough to play against when he was focusing on defense. Most really talented player can play good defense if they put their heart in it.

      *Looks at Melo*
