Hibbert says he needs to wear a cup next time he faces Aldridge

Dec 3, 2013, 10:30 AM EDT

LaMarcus Aldridge had a big night in Portland’s big win at home over Indiana — 28 points on 19 shots, including some key ones in the fourth quarter when Portland came from behind for the win. He did some real damage from the midrange hitting 6-of-9 shots on what you would call deep twos.

But he also put the ball on the floor and drove, and that’s where things got interesting. David West did a solid defensive job of getting out of Aldridge and forcing him to drive, then forcing those drives baseline into the waiting help of Roy Hibbert.

Aldridge went up a couple of times to shoot over Hibbert on those drives and when he did his knee was in front of his body and.. ouch. Hibbert took a couple of knees to the area you least want to take a knee as a guy. He dropped to the ground a few times.

Hence the tweet above. And this series of tweets to follow.

You can make up excuses, or play defense, not both.

brugis23 doesn’t need a cup, his ballz are in his wifes purse and he carries the bag too.

Fevil, stop lying. His balls are in your mouth.

  2. pbtunpaidwriter - Dec 3, 2013 at 12:09 PM

He needs to stop making excuses.

I like Roy but he talks too much nonsense on Twitter.

Excuses? Come on, Aldridge was leading with his knee every time Roy came over on the help defense. It happened multiple times and he got away with it. Roy made plenty of plays in the paint and didn’t do anything wrong besides try to block a guy leading with his knee every time he drove.

The most whiney nonsense I’ve seen about “leading with the knee” in the last decade is easily from Hibbert and Pacers fans.

The things that happen to Hibbert in this regard happen with any number of other players in the league but he’s the only one complaining about it.

      Also, Hibbert flopped twice.

Karl Makone was the master at coming atcha with a knee and two elbows. Aldridge pales in comparison.

  5. emosnar - Dec 3, 2013 at 1:44 PM

Aldridge is not dirty but last night he was filthy.

Wow. I didn’t know that the finals were decided in December.. Hibbert’s a great player, and as a Heat fan, I can say that Indiana is more than just a threat to Miami this year, these guys are legit. But they have to be careful thinking that they can start assuming that they are going to win it all, Miami made that mistake in the ’11 finals.

    • MLBlogsbig3bosox - Dec 3, 2013 at 6:35 PM

Ummm well.. At least they got there, right?

  7. kountryking - Dec 3, 2013 at 1:52 PM

God, can’t these “college” boys write English?

  8. antistratfordian - Dec 3, 2013 at 2:45 PM

    Hibbert whines too much.

  9. peterjohnjoseph - Dec 3, 2013 at 5:45 PM

I’m way more infatuated with that cup. That is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. I want to wear one just for the hell of it. It just looks awesome. I want my balls to be technologically protected with shock proof technology everyday of the week, and I have no idea why.

This is funny: the NBA players are sharing a sportsmanlike and respectful dialogue, yet the comments here are …ummm…. not.

    • patsfan92 - Dec 4, 2013 at 1:03 PM

lol yet nba players are the thugs

  11. bjornreyes - Dec 3, 2013 at 9:08 PM

“We will see each other in the finals.”

    Hahahahahahaha!
Well, that was a good joke to ease the tension between them.

  12. brugis23 - Dec 3, 2013 at 11:52 PM

@fevil hahahahah! Dude! You keep getting owned!

  13. amoose3 - Dec 4, 2013 at 7:36 AM

I know this ended up being all in good fun but man does Hibbert complain a lot. A while back he stopped liking Drummond (now this? Dude seems so soft, never seen a 7 footer fall to the ground so often.
