Kevin Garnett does not hear you calling him old (VIDEO)

Nov 25, 2013, 1:22 PM EDT

If these new noise cancelling Beats by Dre headphones really can help you tune out Skip Bayless I may shell out for a pair.

This new ad for the headphones features Kevin Garnett tuning out his critics (be careful, a little NSFW language in there).

You need to suspend your belief in reality for this commercial to really work — the criticism of KG leaving for Brooklyn, even the current criticism of the Nets, is  not nearly that intense. Nobody is throwing eggs at him on a team bus coming into games. Also, when players get off a team bus at the arena they do not have to pass a gauntlet of angry fans yelling slurs at them. The NBA is not some European soccer match.

Still, nice headphones.

Hat tip to Rob Mahoney of The Point Forward at SI, who would throw eggs at KG if he got the chance.

You have to admit, the marketing strategy is pretty genius.

Although, I think if you’re going to have a poster boy for “cutting out the noise” you might want to have a nice big closeup of Bill Belichick on your ads. Yeah, that will sell. You can even listen to him do that throat clearing thing he does at press conference in high def sound.

(For those who aren’t football fans, Belichick’s big team motto has always been “avoid the noise”. He also is known for causing awkward silence, as he says just about nothing after games, and awkwardly grunts.)

Also, I think its pretty evident this was made before the 3-10 start.

They should have waited… Worse timing ever.

    He doesn’t hear it people!

… literally, his hearing has severely diminished due to old age.

Sports are crazy. Only in sports is 37 considered old!

But yeah, he is definitely showing his age this year.

That’s because he keep’s forgetting to change the battery on his hearing aid. As much as I respect what he has done over his carrer, he is a SHELL of himself.
