Hawks rookie Dennis Schroder suspended one game for punch to the groin of DeMarcus Cousins (VIDEO)

Nov 7, 2013, 11:42 AM EDT

Hawks rookie Dennis Schroder has been suspended one game for “striking DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings in the groin,” the league announced on Thursday.

The suspension is warranted, of course, but the most incredible part of the play was the fact that the referees didn’t feel the need to whistle Schroder for the foul. Now, the closest official may have been shielded from seeing what happened by Jason Thompson, and the referees probably hate Cousins, at least in his eyes.

Announcement: Pro Basketball Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $25,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Friday, Nov. 8th games. It’s just $10 to join and first prize is $3,500. Starts at 7pm ET on Friday. Here’s the link.

Either way, the punishment eventually came down, and it will cost Schroder a game’s pay.

    I donno… punching a dude’s balls should automatically be five games…

Props to Cousin’s for keeping his cool even after the foul call. We all know he’ll go off in a heartbeat.

I would’ve atleast shoved the dude for doing it. Why does the video skip and not actually show him striking Cousin’s though? It skips right before and starts right after he was already hit…Does my work computer suck?

It’s kind of hard to shove someone after they hit you in the balls.

The writer of this doesn’t understand officiating either. All 3 refs don’t watch the same thing. The one responsible for watching that may have and probably was blocked out, it’s hard to see through someone.

He holds his hand there to try and sell the call. He holds a mans hand on his junk.
