Watch Kevin Love rack up points against New York (VIDEO)

Nov 4, 2013, 11:31 AM EDT

Sorry Knicks fans, you may not want to watch this, but the rest of the country is buzzing about it.

There has been no hotter player in the NBA to start the season than Kevin Love, who averaged 29.7 points per game on 50 percent shooting, plus 14.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game — and those are the kind of numbers he can sustain.

You know his name was all over the Knicks scouting report heading into Sunday, yet he still dropped 34 and 15 on New York in the Garden. Even got a high five from Spike Lee.

Announcement: Pro Basketball Talk’s partner FanDuel is hosting a one-day $15,000 Fantasy Basketball league for Monday, Nov. 4th games. It’s just $10 to join and first prize is $2,000. Starts at 7pm ET. Here’s the link.

Our own D.J. Foster called him a potential sneaky MVP candidate, and while it’s far, far too early to have that conversation in any real sense it’s something to think about. K-Love is tearing it up.

The best PF in the league. If he adds a post-up game, he will be deadly.

    • antistratfordian - Nov 4, 2013 at 2:52 PM

“Best PF in the league” and he has no post game? I don’t think so, Tim.

    • danielgmz - Nov 5, 2013 at 11:46 PM

I’d like to say he already has a post game

Where are those in the “he’s not an elite player” camp? Love is a beast! He’s going to look great in PURPLE AND GOLD!

    • dluxxx - Nov 4, 2013 at 1:17 PM

I didn’t realize the Vikings were looking to sign him to a contract…

      • kb2408 - Nov 4, 2013 at 1:53 PM

Good one, my friend! But that’s not the PURPLE AND GOLD I’m talking about.

Its laughable that laker fans think he would leave rubio and pekovic to play with washed up overrated jabroni Kobe and the rest of the nobodys over there. The only time he will be a laker is when he is on one of the 13000 lakes in the great state of minny.

nice to see an Oregon kid doing so well in the pros. big debate out here was whether he or Kyle Singler was better. I guess we know now.

Best PF?!? Lmao! Not even close, maybe when he learns how to play defense and post-up.

    • kb2408 - Nov 4, 2013 at 12:33 PM

Name me one pf that has a low post game, 3 point range, rebounds like a mother and plays all NBA defense. I’ll help you: the answer is no one because such a pf doesn’t exist. But Love possess 3 out of 4 of those qualities. If he’s not the best, then who is?

      • knightrider1755 - Nov 4, 2013 at 12:43 PM

        And then there was silence.

      • antistratfordian - Nov 4, 2013 at 2:53 PM

“Name me one pf that has a low post game, 3 point range, rebounds like a mother and plays all NBA defense.”

        LeBron James

      • antistratfordian - Nov 4, 2013 at 2:58 PM

” But Love possess 3 out of 4 of those qualities.”

Love only possesses 2 out of those 4 qualities – not 3 out of 4. Three point range and rebounding. He’s useless in the post, he’s useless inside the three point line in general, and doesn’t play defense.

Tim Duncan has 3 out of those 4 qualities if you want to talk pure PFs – low post, rebounding, defense. LeBron has 4 out of 4 if you want to talk hybrid PFs. GMs listed LeBron, Duncan and Love as the best PFs in the league.

Kevin Love reminds me of an old guy named Wes, who has a great step back jumper from long range. I think Wes hangs out with another old guy named Uncle Drew. Those two must have been something in their day.

BTW, Garnett has or had the ideal PF qualities but he was a mid range shooter. Kevin McHale is his day did all of the above.

        Antistratfordian,

Clearly you don’t watch many Wolves games.

KLove’s post game isn’t the smoothest, sexiest thing you’ve ever seen, but he does have a nice hook shot; he’s incredibly crafty; he out-hustles everyone; draws tons of fouls and effectively gets the job done.

The best kept secret in the NBA is that Love has the best pump fake in the NBA and he’s the best outlet passer since Wes Unseld. At the end of the day, the best rebounder in the NBA is also one of the best 3 point shooters in the NBA, and that’s a rare combo. BTW, I’m a Bulls fan at heart, but the Wolves are my favorite team.

    White Men Can’t Jump

    • longtallsam - Nov 5, 2013 at 2:38 AM

And your point is? He seems to be rebounding pretty well, if he can’t jump!

  6. allday420ap - Nov 4, 2013 at 1:38 PM

Knicks fans got a lesson in basketball last night. K Love is nothing but the truth.

  7. antistratfordian - Nov 4, 2013 at 2:59 PM

    Two words: Kevin Martin
