Heat to wear new gold-lettered uniforms, jackets opening night

adidas Miami HEAT, Championship Collection, Swingman

Another ring, another uniform.

On opening night the Miami Heat are going to get their championship rings, watch another banner go up into the rafters at AmericanAirlines Arena, and during it all LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and teammates will be wearing a special new uniform and warm-up jacket designed by adidas.

You can see the uniform – called the NBA Championship Ring Ceremony Collection — to the right, it has the Larry O’Brien trophy on it and gold lettering. The jacket is white with a huge image of the trophy on the back as well as the three years the Heat have won titles. Of course, those will be for sale at

It’s all going to be a big show — and then Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls will try to knock them down a peg.

It should be a good opening night; Miami should be fired up for this one. That said, one thing to watch as the season goes on is how much Miami coasts the first half of the season — they’ll still win 60 games give or take a few, but how focused are they going to be? If, like last season, they don’t build enough good habits during the season it will catch up with them these playoffs in a deeper Eastern Conference.

But the new uniforms look sweet.

what i want to see in this game is if Greg Oden will play..

    • miamatt - Oct 23, 2013 at 4:33 PM

I hate to break it to you, but there is a 0% chance he plays in that game. The Heat are for real in their “take it slow” approach. Oden hasn’t dressed yet for a preseason game, let alone shown he is ready to be active and in the rotation for a regular season game less than a week away.

Don’t look now, but Oden just checked in the Pelicans game and his first touch was a powerful monster jam! He looks pretty spry.

hahaha, @anti, I couldn’t believe it when he got in the game tonight! I still think he is a ways off from getting regular season minutes, but I’d be thrilled to be proven wrong again, that;s for damn sure!

Also, he was a presence at the other end, blocking a couple of shots, clearly altering another, and forcing a jump ball. It was only 4 minutes, but nobody expected to see him at all. The very good news is that this must mean his rehab really has gotten somewhere because the Heat certainly wouldn’t have risked a breakdown in the pre-season. If we read anything about knee swelling after the game, it will be hard to avoid thoughts of “oh oh, here it goes again”, but for now, he looked prety good, and those four minutes were a very sweet surprise.

    nice jersey

    And another shoe colorway.

I don’t think anyone has to worry about Miami coasting. That’s not how they roll. And LeBron has never been a regular season coaster – he’s trying to win every game.

Coasting is a nonsensical term. Nobody can go at 100% output for 100% of the time. It is the cognizant that figure this out and manage their time / game accordingly.

This may be Coach Tom Thibodeau’s undoing. Fantastic coach in most areas, he gets his players to perform at 100%. But he expects this 100% of the time. Sadly they eventually break down and can no longer perform due to injury or shear exhaustion.

    • miamatt - Oct 23, 2013 at 4:37 PM

On the money. Thibs is a great coach, that is probably the one area he can be criticized on. The NBA season is a nine month marathon, you can’t treat it like 100 meter dash.

Those jerseys are worse than Lebron’s hairline

If you were forced to endure the last 40 years of Miami Dolphins football, you’d be enjoying this Miami Heat team just as much as we are.
